Capital Accountant
As the Capital Accountant, you will be part of the Budgeting/Forecasting, Capital Accounting and Accounting Systems Group. Strength as a team player and paying close attention to details and processes, combined with the ability to see a bigger picture of how capital interacts with other parts of Paramount’s organization, will lead to success in this position. You will interact with and support individuals from a wide and varied background including, but not limited to, Project Engineers, Corporate Operating Officers, Business Analysts, the Controller and Accounts Payable.
Responsibilities:
Review and endorse AFEs using Paramount’s internal AFE system
Prepare and record monthly capital accruals
Design and prepare capital reports for operating units and management
Capital analysis at the AFE, project and business unit levels
Inventory reconciliations and booking of material transfers
Assist in the formal project /AFE review process for completed projects, leading to closing of completed AFEs
Analysis of overhead recoveries
Ensure that QBYTE, project management system and internal AFE system contain accurate and current capital information
Test upgrades for project management and AFE systems
Work together with the business analysis team to ensure that budgeting and forecasting results of capital and operating activities are integrated.

Qualities, Skills & Attributes:
CMA or CGA designation or final year candidate
Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within the organization
Five to ten years of oil and gas accounting combined with capital / AFE experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Solid interpersonal, organizational and prioritization skills
Experience with QBYTE and Hyperion / Essbase would be a definite asset
Strong Microsoft Office (Excel / Word) skills
Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
