It's the difference between wholesale and retail. Using the limited supply at retail as a wholesale source fucks up the rest of the economy that is trying to get things for a reasonable price.

The week following the release, if you bought an iPad2, once you walked out of the store, there were people standing there willing to buy it off of you + give you an additional $150 for it (so they could ship it to China and sell it for even more). Someone on kijiji was willing to get me one and add $80 on top on launch day. Its $80 and I can stay at work and make more than that! I actually overpaid him by $80 ($165 total) and he ended up calling me back to meet him again to return $80. He was there with his mom and sister... that kid is going to have good karma for sure!
