3rd Party iPhone 3Gs charger?

Anyone using a 3rd party iPhone 3Gs wall charger?

My cable is fine, but the actual part that plugs into the wall died the other day. I have no idea why, but it simply doesn't work anymore.

I have two different USB wall chargers from Monoprice, and they will charge my iPod, but not my iPhone (not sure why this is either). So, it appears I can't just go out and buy a cheap USB wall charger.

The phone charges fine off my PC, but it's slow and inconvenient.

Anyways, are there any known working alternatives to the $30 piece of plastic from Apple? Or should I just bend over and buy another Apple one? Specifically looking for a wall charger here.

Yes there alternatives... I use one that was 1.99 shipped with both the cable and part that plugs in to the wall.

Do you have a link to the exact one? I've bought a ton of these wall chargers now and none of the third party ones will actually charge my iPhone...they will charge my iPod but not the phone - I don't know why.

I can look on my pc later, it's a square one just like the apple. Got a car charger for iPhone for like a dollar too haha.

Hopefully it actually charges my phone, unlike the other 5 USB wall chargers I've tried haha.

Make sure you get a 10W charger. It charges the iPad properly, and is super fast at charging the iPhones.

If I remember right, the iPhone can use up to 5W for charging, USB off your computer will put out around 1.5W (which is why it's so slow), and the iPhone chargers puts out around 2.5W. The official Apple iPhone 4 chargers output at 5W, and the iPad chargers at 10W. You can't blow up the iPhone with a 10W charger, that's just the max rating, so plugging in an iPhone the charger will only push out 5W max.

Good to know. Do you have a link to the 10w ones? I'm used to seeing charging speed rated with amps, not watts.

I'm having trouble finding ratings on any of these cheap chargers. Or do I just buy an iPad charger?

So my first of two chargers arrived today. It is literally an exact copy in every way of the Apple one. As soon as I try to use it my phone says "charging not supported by this device". Anyway around that, or did the Chinese just get me?

This is what I bought. The auction specifically states compatiblity with the 3Gs.

Yes, the one that didn't work is exactly from the link you provided. I have the latest iOS, maybe that makes a difference? I have no idea.

It makes the chime noise when I plug it in, so it recognizes it's presence, but then the screen says' charging is not supported. It's such a simple little device I have no idea why the iPhone is so picky with it's chargers. The company offered to send me another one and I still have a different one yet coming in the mail so we will see I guess. I just have trouble believing it's defective due to how simple the device is, and how the phone recognized it.

UPDATE:

Other one arrived in the mail today, it has a cable and wall plug. It works perfectly both with it's supplied cable and the apple one.
