Heres my Dilemma...

I am waiting for a friend of mine to get a new car so I can buy his. But in the mean time, I need something to get my around. I have about 6-8 grand to play with. What i want is something that in about 6 months- a year wouldnt have lost too much value, and that I will be able to sell without too much difficulty.
What do you think?

A Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla come to mind...But you have to remember chances are you will lose a bit of cash man...

What does your friend drives?

6 to 8K will get you a 96+ Civic depending on equipment and that's usually a good investment.

But if you really want to just get around, a good Cavalier will cost way less.

6-8 is a decent amount of money to "play around with"... be more specific on what you would/would rather not have.

You can get any car in that range, treat it nicely and don't put 50,000 miles on it and it wouldn't lose that much value.

Its a 95 240...but he wont be ready to sell it for a little while.

I was something that'll do the job for now. My main concern is getting as much of what i paid for it back as possible. and I don't know much about resale numbers. Obviously I don't want some shitty car, Ive just been checkin canadatrader here and there.
Something like this looks good to me...what do u think

Price is ok, you can probably knock it down a few hundreds.

Somehow I have more respect for th 89-94 240 than 95-98 240.

If you want to find a Kelly Black Book (dealer trade in) price of a used car, just go to Toyota.ca and do a estimate.

Buy an integra - they hardly depreciate

That 240 SX had a lot of kilometers on it, be sure of it's condition before buying it.

I would recommend VW's. There are many people that claim they last forever. Jetta's rule!

Just keep looking and be patient. You have enough money for a quality car and the perfect deal will come along eventually.

Why is that?

You can buy my 87 Porsche 944. It's got high mileage already so it won't lose any more because of that or age.

Pm me if you are interested. (there's more info in the members' rides section)

Like the style better and 95+ looks awefully small and the back seat is pratically useless.

Well I would agree the back seat is tiny, but I don't need it anyways. Besides, if I wanted a car for a back seat, I'd buy a mini van. Also, 95-98 are way more rare, therefore more respected, generally. and I think they're waaaay nicer, dont get me wrong, the older ones are nice too, but when I see a 95-98, it makes me think wow, you dont see those everyday, what a beautiful car. I guess thats just your opinion, but I definatly can say I don't agree.

Well I would have to say go for a 240sx if you like them. They hold their value well and you will have fun with it!
