Hey all, so i'm contemplating on buying a hybird vehicle and i've come across a lexus gs450h. It seems like its the perfect balance as it's got a V6 + hybrid motor and i'll actually get decent milage (though nowhere near the hybrid camry but the looks on that dont do it for me) without sacrificing too much power.

i've done a bit of research on the web regarding the car but i was wondering if there are any GS450h owners on here that have any tips/advices for buying this car?

1. Is the reduced trunk space due to the batteries a big issue?
2. Are the MPG really close to 27mpg in MODERATE use (i.e not driving it like it was stolen)
3. any specific issues/recalls to watch out for? Again i looked on the web and couldn't really find any recalls with this so it seems the car is solid!

Any help or adviced would be appreciated guys!

It's by far my favourite Lexus. Tons of torque, decent handling and over 30mpg is easily attainable. Limited trunk size is
Due to batteries.

M35h is another new entry.

I don't know how well all these hybrids perform in winter tho.

in terms of traction or the battery? if its traction it should just be ok if i slap on a set of winters for it since its a FR?

Battery of course. Diminish capacity = more gas used. But 3.5L V6 can't really use that much anyway.

The H labeling is still more of an ego than practicality. If you really want to help, get a V8 and finish the gas supply so we can move on to the next thing.

450h is a fun car to drive, it's got decent power. definitely a good purchase, and no one has really had any issues with them.

yeah they also seem very rare/exclusive too, haven't really seen a lot of gs450's rolling around in the city. The only thing setting it back is the lexus traction control, i was reading on a few sites where they said it was impossible to generate any wheel spin on that car lol

that's why you turn trac control off and use snow mode

Snow mode? Snow mode in my car essentially dampens/smoothes the throttle

Did you mean PWR mode?

If you are the kind of guy to keep the radio off and listen for rattles, dont buy any of the newer GS series. One the most common complaints.

Trunk is a lot smaller than gas models.

What year are you looking at roughly?

most likely 2007, or a 2009 model from the states. what would be the cause of these rattles??

Good way to get yourself stuck in a hurry. The GS450h with traction control off will dig a 3" deep rut before you even have time to think "oh shit." Thank the electric motors and their instant torque for that. Other than that, they're great for winter use.
