2005 Vette
My question to you guys is... If I buy this car for 31500. What are my costs to bring it over? I know shippings around 2k.. Can I get it here in my driveway for 35???

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chevrolet-Corvette-/110666055420?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19c435fefc

And I dont need anymore bashing mmmk? just CAR ADVICE, on a car forum.

Use the search button.. this has been written out as clear as day multiple times.

BTW Answer is NO. 35 wont cover shipping and GST, let alone anything else. Dont be so lazy.

I think you can do better than that Vette imo. Search www.corvetteforum.com for a huge list of C5's and C6's for sale.

As for the orig question. In our city, you cant go wrong with a Vette, especially the C6. Parts, knowledge, tuning, all available within the city limits.

I know you were searching for 911's. Much different car but for what you are looking for the Vette will pass.

C5 Z06 is a beauty with the right wheels. Plus, forced induction ones are priced fairly well and for 30k on your driveway you could have 600+whp.

Seriously man, you should start losing user-rating points for this continued idiocy.

Yes, it's a car forum.

No, YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE A THREAD ABOUT EVERY FUCKING CAR THAT CROSSES YOUR MIND AND THAT HONESTLY, YOU AREN'T GOING TO BUY.

Yes I am sure you will eventually BORROW BALLER CASH to buy something but, until you post your cock-stroking pictures, FUCK OFF ALREADY.

Gotta agree with JRS here. This is getting out of hand man.

But to answer your question - since you don't want to do your own research - you'll be dealing with GST, and the RIV fee of twohundredsomething, the inspection, plus a $100 air conditioning charge. No duties because it is made in North America.

There is also a gas guzzler (green fee) charge for vehicles put into service after March 19, 2007 that you should be aware of, but do not apply to this 2005 car.
•at least 13 but less than 14 litres per 100 kilometres, $1,000;
•at least 14 but less than 15 litres per 100 kilometres, $2,000;
•at least 15 but less than 16 litres per 100 kilometres, $3,000; and
•16 or more litres per 100 kilometres, $4,000.

actually guys after doing some research again. Theres a few in calgary you can get for like 40k, their convertables, and their in KM's... promise I dont make another thread about this....

Seems like importing a car is a headache anyways

Thanks for the advice.

As for the 911.... spending that kinda money on a car I'll drive 3 months a year is outragious... If I do get the Vette I'll be going on Jordans cruise later this year... thanks again guys.

Oh and if you guys know of anyone wanting to get rid of a 2005+, corvette convertable, has to be 6 speed, let me know.

and the blue one for around 39k.

What :confused: I thought the gas guzzler tax only applied to US Residents purchasing new vehicles not second hand cars and definitely not Canadian residents purchasing used US cars.

If this is really the case that would suck as the vette is 16MPG City IIRC so that's another $2000 you would have to pay on top of the other fees/taxes :facepalm: I've been thinking about picking up a C6 Z51 in a year or so for a while now.

Nope. It applies when importing newer cars from the US too. They call it a "Green Levy".

http://www.riv.ca/CostConsiderations.aspx

Keep in mind though that it is a weighted average. So with the 28mpg highway rating, that's 23.5 mpg average, or about 10l/100k.... so you should be fine.

For anyone importing vehicles from the USA, run a CarFax on it to check and see if it was ever registered around Louisiana, there'a a big market there with taking cars that were submerged for a week, shipping them out to another state and selling them as mint. Lots of corrosion on these cars.
