After sitting Idle for the winter, I am struggling to find my only set of keys for the FTO. :banghead:
Has anyone had a good experience with a company that will make a new ignition key from the trunk lock?
Thanks!

this happened to me once, and I just got the key code off the car and got one at a local dealership. they had it in stock. did you try calling around to mitsu dealers to see if that is possible?

No Keycode to be found, I checked the manual, all the stickers on the body etc...

call the dealer and ask them what code they need for replacement keys, and where it's located on the car.
unless you really want to replace the ignition and door locks. :dunno:
EDIT: actually, now that I think about it, the dealership can get the key code from your VIN. I remember this since I had a US car and it wasn't in the canadian "system," so it was kind of a bitch.

Vehicle was never sold here, no one at the calgary dealerships has ever seen one in person...

well, it would be far easier for you to call the parts guys at a dealership and ask them about it, rather than trying to get help from random idiots like me
as for getting a locksmith to make a key, can that even be done? you might have to replace your ignition and door locks.

The dealership should be able to punch out a key for you from your VIN for like 15 bucks each. Does the car have an immobilizer?

FTO wont have a VIN, just a serial number that likely wont match up for the dealership to cut the key.
What my shop will do is remove the lock cylinder and bring that to a locksmith (we use the one near the old speedtech)
It's a bit of a gamble but it works 90% of the time. It's easier then swapping out the ignition.

OP did you try calling the dealer to see if they can order you a key? IMO, it's worth a 5 minute phone call to save quite a bit of money. :dunno: i would do that before trying to make a key or swapping the ignition and locks.

I tried both Platinum and Hyatt, no go on codes or even the spare key made by Mitsubishi.
Rat Fink, thanks for the heads up, gonna try to get the main cylinder out...
