i have an 87 nova 5 speed. in first gear it slips now, and i have to wait a bit and rev it a bit and figure out whats goign on before it gets all regrouped again. its usually when im turning, i almost got hit by a truck. wierd thing is, when it slips, the car revs... and the speedometer goes as if the tires were slipping. (like a tach with the revs) any ideas? i need to get this fixed.
i did add fluid to the clutch fluid, seems i was a bit low, it also didnt seem to help.

would that be a symptom of the transaxle oil being low???? maybe something cheap? how much does a new clutch cost?
that sounds exactly like a symptom of a burnt out clutch. sorry dude.

well that sucks, does anyonwe know why the speedometer would keep working? that struck me as perplexing.
the tranny is spinning, even though the wheels are not. not many modern cars have wheel driven speedo's. most are driven off a gear in the tranny.
