What would happen if say I just run a DVI splitter and have both LCDs connected to my laptop? THe res on the monitors is 1920x1080.

I heard i need the matrox dualhead2go but its also $300 and can only be bought online! Any cheaper alternatives to doing this setup without having to dish out $300 for a part?

Also im looking to do this on a Macbook Pro 2011 edition. So i would need a mini display port to DVI adaptor first, then a DVI splitter connected to that. Followed by 2 more dvi cables. Uhhhh :banghead:

This is the kind of setup i want to run except my monitors are samsungs and not apple displays.

Wouldn't you just get the same thing on both displays with a "DVI splitter" ? The Matrox DualHead2Go works pretty good if your vidcard is compatible and can put out 3840x2160, or maybe a USB/DVI adapter from Aluratek (http://aluratek.com/products/high-resolution-adapters) or Gefen (http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8863) would do the job? What do you plan on using it for?

I've used a DVI splitter to output 2 different desktops before, it's all in the driver you're using and the chip in the video card. From what I remember, any mid range card can handle it, it's just the cable that's expensive.
