Figured we should start a thread that talks about dedicated Video Camcorders.

I have this little guy and it takes amazing video.

Full 1080P at 60fps

I'll leave the technical jibber to Sanyo's website.

I've never been into video myself. And if it turns out I like video, the last thing I need is to discover another thing to spend money on haha.

I plan to be sticking to photos for the foreseeable future. I'm sure my next DSLR will have some sort of video function, so we'll seen then how much I actually have use for it :). If I had children, I'd probably own something like you posted.

600 fps would be fun to play with. I didn't see a spec on the lower frame rate though. Does it record at 24 or 30 fps normally?

I'm not sure I would have to look, we always record at the highest setting, so it has never been a concern.

I find my Flip camera to be all I need for shooting video of my son.

Unless you are planning a feature length motion picture about your kids, you really shouldn't need much more than an SLR with a video function or even a point-and-shoot camera that does HD recording.

At the end of the day most of the video shot of my kid is him doing something cute or funny for 30 seconds that gets posted on Facebook for his grandparents to see.

I have a Sony HDR-CX550. I was deciding between it and a Panasonic HDCTM900K. I picked the Sony because it had a wider lens, more memory, better stabilizer, works with Sony's video tripods and had a good cheap shotgun mic.

I also have a video DSLR, but the only videos I've taken with that are when I accidentally press the record button.
