After seeing the bacon thread and through serendipity that a bowling trip that didn't work out last night, we made a rendezvous to our drunken watering hole, Denny's!

The things I do for you people.

So the gist of 'Baconalia' is to get Canadians fatter than Americans through many bacon-filled ways; bacon, bacon and more bacon.

There's so many selections and I think this night made me go through the 5 Stages of Baconalia. Let me walk you through my experience, shall we?

I picked something different and went for the Bacon Meatloaf:

So it's a meatloaf with bacon in it, sprinkled with bacon. Obviously, you get it with extra bacon but our server didn't hear me say in strips so it got chopped up. =(

So the first stage is Euphoria: Every carnivore in the world LOVES bacon; the smell, the sizzle, the fact that it's so crispy when done right... *drool*

It's a magical feeling to see it in front of your eyes... Smothered in BBQ sauce and so much bacon. It's a heavenly sight.

Upon the first bite, I was immediately disappointed. Without the sauce, it's nothing. It's like eating cardboard. I immediately regret getting it. As you work your way through it though, you get slammed with the crispy bacon sprinkles and suddenly, all your worries disappear.

Mortgage? The bank can call me later.

Kids? Fuck 'em.

All that's there is bacon and you.

You devour the whole thing and you hit the second stage:The Sweats, also known as "Babe's Revenge". The moment you finish that entire thing, the whole bacon experience settles down and your body is saying,

"WTF is this shit?!" and then retaliates with,

"Here comes the pain."

Your start to become overwhelmed, just looking tired... Not even the veggies can save you now! Just when you think you throw in the towel, your friend dares you to try the sundae.

Your body says 'no', your intestines says 'Pepto' but the bacon-filled part of your mind, the baconellum, says...

And here it is.

In all of its glory, the bacon sundae with crispy bacon on the side. After seeing more bacon, you are now in Stage 3: "The Comeback Kid"

You smell the crispiness, you see the deliciousness and you just go for the gold. Dip that fucker in there, smother it in vanilla ice cream... No regrets.

I dared my friend to chug the syrup and the remaining bacon if I paid for the whole thing and chugged it he did. It was magical.

After finishing those two gargantuan meals, you feel accomplished, content... So overpowering that you feel like you can conquer the world! Cure AIDS through bacon?! Let's do it!

We could've done anything after... Instead, we played MvC3 at his house.

That's when you hit Stage 4: Bacon Coma

Usually, I'm decent in MvC3, which requires you to be alert and on your toes because there's too many flashing lights and the combo system is ridiculously quick. After Baconalia, I was having trouble focusing, slurred speech, dilated pupils, labored breathing... GG. I was out. I tried to fight the nap which I know will be my last. I went home and was lights out.

I wake up 10 hours later... throbbing headache, photo-sensitivity, short tempered and craving for water & bread. I have hit Stage 5: The Hangover. I felt (and still) feel like utter crap but I have no regrets, no remorse, just all out pain.

Never will I endure this feat again until I burn it off. In fact, this event actually made me MORE self-conscious now and am reading through the Rapid Fat Loss thread (http://forums.beyond.ca/st/325343/rapid-fat-loss/)!

Curse you, delicious bacon!

All things set aside, if you're going for Baconalia, I'd try something else other than the bacon meatloaf; if you're gonna go for the gold, go big or go home.

Get extra bacon.

Your story has inspired me to go on my own Bacon Vision Quest. Now I just have to plan the means of attack and initiate it.
