hub center rings

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm not much a car guy.

I have a 72mm and a 56mm hub center ring (2 each) and would like to know which one goes where. Does the 56mm go on the front wheels or does it go on the back?

I am putting this on my 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i. Factory tires are 16" and I am putting on 17" summer tires. I would like to do this myself.

I had em done professionally last year and I really don't wanna spend money while I can do it myself.

Well... the 56mm ring sure won't fit on the 72mm hub, and the 72mm ring will be super loose on the 56mm hub.

Isn't this one of those things that should be pretty straight forward?

what realazy said, the difference between 56mm and 72mm is HUGE so if you get this wrong im going to sh*t bricks.
