View Full Version : Need help removing wheel lock
Does anyone have a master key for McGard Wheel Lock and can help me remove some locks tonight? Or any other methods?
I was in the process of changing out of my winter tires when my key broke. :banghead: I now have 2 different sets of wheels on each side of my car..... not pretty at all.
Can anyone help? Somewhere around Nose hill park would be good. Don't think I should travel too far with different tires on.
Here is my broken key.

If that doesnt work, a piece of square stock to the center of them.

Hammer a socket on or get lock nut remover sockets. I got a set at princess auto for use with a impact wrench.

the socket trick wont work on those, they are round on the outer edge.
best bet is a lock nut remover from snap-on or mac. check with your local tire shop, they may have these. I'm sure if you show up with your car they would help you out.

Bring it down to one of the tire joints in Crowfoot. They'll do it for free sometimes.
I've had this happen to me on 3 different sets, so I just don't bother anymore with the locks. If the mofuggers want my stock wheels so bad, they can have'em.

bowness auto parts has a lock nut remover set, designed for exactly what your looking to do,
i remember seeing it and thinking, wtf good is locking nuts now, haha
Went to Kal Tire this morning. They wanted $20 a corner to remove them with hammer and socket. $80!
I was going to just buy a lock nut remover set and do it myself, but decided to try the dealer. They actually did it for me for free. Best thing a dealer has ever done for me. I'm assuming they used some kind of remover as I can see small markings near the outer edge of the nuts.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Shouldn't travel far with winters on? I drive like 500k a week and still have winters on
My winters and summers are slightly different in size, so I wasn't sure what that would do to the car. But someone later told me it should be fine.
