If Nashville can beat Anaheim then I absolutely think they'll beat Detroit... they dominated Detroit this year in the regular season and Pekka Rinne has been on fire.

Also, don't forget that last year in the playoffs Nashville gave Chicago a run for their money... and Chicago was the eventual Stanley Cup champions.

The time before that they had Detroit tied in the series 2-2 and in the fifth game in OT they lost... had they won that game, which they very nearly did, they would have taken a 3-2 lead back to Nashville for game six... and Detroit was the eventual Stanley Cup champions that year as well.

... Nashville is a severely underrated team, I think they might finally do something... but who knows.

As far as Boston goes... hey, Tim Thomas breaking that record has to count for something.

Definitely, I think San Jose got lucky because LA had more than a few good chances to put the Puck in the net in OT. I think the Habs-Bruins series is going to be the best first round series.

I'd like to see Nashville win a playoff series, the way that Rinne is playing I think it cOuld happen.

Bruins will blow out Montreal if they actually show up to play, otherwise Montreal will continue it's "every team plays bad against us in the playoffs" winning streak from last year.

Who would have thought Montreal would take it 2-0 in Boston? Montreal for the sweep?

Right now LA's D is getting it done on both ends of the ice. Drew Doughty and Jack Johnson each with a PP goal and assist.

Yeah not looking good for Boston right now. Habs 2-0 on the road, now take it back home... Montreal has an unbelievable fan base, Boston is going to have to do a lot to take that crowd out of the game. I'm gonna say it looks like Habs might take this in a sweep, but we will see.

My prediction, and not really a prediction but hope to see... Vancouver VS Montreal in the finals. Guaranteed the cup comes back to Canada where it belongs. Watching the Kings/SJ game last night... Sooo many empty seats. Its playoff hockey for fucks sakes... :banghead:

I agree. I'm not much of a Vancouver fan, but I would love for it to stay in Canada.

In 26 seasons, Boston has never came back from a 2-0 deficit. Plus the bruins have only beaten Montreal 8 times in 34 play off seasons.

Nashville is amazing at boring teams into a loss.

D'z Nutz
04-24-2011, 08:27 PM
Yeah that was a bit of a surprise. I would've thought Perry would've been a huge factor in the series but he was almost non-existent. I was hoping the Ducks would've taken a longer run so that Teemu would be convinced to play another year.

I'd love to say I think the Canucks will pull it out tonight. And I kinda think they will. But with three straight losses (two in spectacular fashion) I'd be lying if I said I was confident.

Pronger is *huge* in the playoffs. But as his first game back, I wonder if he will make much of an impact or not.

I can't believe LA couldn't convert on that 5 minute major!! :banghead:

I wouldn't mind seeing Nashville go deep. Their team is made up of a bunch of 3rd liners and 3rd liners are money in the playoffs.

GO HAWKS GO!

I really(!) want to see Montreal to go through but Boston is a monster team.

Good job, Jonathan Quick. You carried the Kings well. There's always next year. :bigpimp:

They couldnt convert because they too are a bunch of third liners!

Those gritty grinder type players are invaluable for sure but when it comes down to crunch time you need your all stars to step up!

True dat. You need the all stars there to take the heat away from the grinders ala Toews/Kane making room for Bolland/Frolik. LOL

I too wish Nashville goes deep. I think they have one of the best goalies in the league (arguably the best?!) and IMO the best defense tandem in the league in Weber and Suter. They were buyers at the deadline so they are taking this seriously.

Hopefully Erat is healthy and Webers facial hair doesnt distract him too much.

Man, anyone watching the Montreal/Boston game? The Habs were absolutely robbed with a ridiculously early whistle.

They just got a 2-man pp. Maybe it won't matter...

As the only person on these boards who predicted Nashville going through from the get-go it's going to be tough for me to bet against them... but I just cannot see them defending against all of Vancouver's depth.

Weber, Sutter and Rinne will be able to mostly silence the Sedins like they did Getzlaf, Perry and Selanne/Ryan...

... but who takes Kesler, Burrows, Samuelsson, Raymond, Hansen, Higgins, Hodgson, Torres, Lapierre?

Why are you all so gung-ho on Detroit?

Just because they beat Phoenix in flour straight does not mean they'll have a similar fate against the Sharks.
