Anyone have any experience with gutter products?

I have a large birch in my front yard that fills my gutters with small leaves and seeds. I've cleaned them in the summer and the fall but they're full again! :nut:

The smart screens are on sale at CT right now.

Holmes Smart Screen (http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443311512&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396672077&bmUID=1302563473161) The negative reviews are kinda what I thought...

There's also these guys:
Gutter Guard (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3/HouseHome/HomeRepairMaintenance/RoofRepair/PRDOVR~0645100P/Gutter%252BGuard%252B6-in.%252Bx%252B25-ft..jsp?locale=en) Look really cheap! A little too cheap!

Thanks!

Anyone tried the gutter foam inserts?

Which works better, the screens or the foam?

I helped my GF's dad install a system similar to this one.
http://www.guttereleaf.com/gutter_guards.htm

His roof is covered in pine needles and leaves and crap. but none of it got in the gutter, and he didn't have to go clean them out once.

Lee Valley - Gutter Brush (http://www.leevalley.com/us/garden/page.aspx?c=&p=58799&cat=2,42194,33169)
Lee Valley - Gutter Siphon (http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?c=&p=10367&cat=2,42194,33169)

Two options fro lee Valley also. I haven't used either.

I need something like this. My house is two stories and cleaning the gutters is a huge pain. I've paid gutter doctor to do it, but that's really expensive. I could do the upper level on what I spend on two cleanings.

I've used the gutter brush, it's terrible. Fills up with so much shit that now you actually have to clean the brush and the gutter as opposed to just the gutter. Waste of money.

I installed the Holmes Smart Screen on my mom's bungalow 5+ years ago and they work great for her. They also installed pretty easily. I think I did about 200 feet (including numerous corners) in about 3 hours.

:dunno:

The negative reviews lead me to believe that some people believed that the smart screens would somehow magically repell ALL leaves, seeds and twigs (of all sizes) while maintaining the flow capacity of the gutters.

At the end of the day there is always some level of give and take with a product like this.

My mom no longer has to scoop handfuls of leaves and sticks out of her gutters every year but still occasionally sweeps them clear if a larger stick lands on them and the rain is unable to push it over. Also in a torrential downpour the guards cause some water to go over the gutters, but they handle most normal showers and storms without any issue.
