Lets keep this safe and fun for everyone.

Iam more then open to suggest plans for the route to Canmore then banff (was thinking 22x to Bragg Creek, follow to 1A to Canmore)

Restaurant Suggestions would be awesome. I dont imagine we can get one table, we can sit in 4's and or 6's

Everyone planning on attanding please PM me your name, contact details and Make of car. Id like to get a list going. All route details will be emailed out to each participant.

Look forward meeting you all.

We leave for Europe on May 31st for a few weeks :(

Is there a way to donate instead of coming out?

Also, my suggestion for lunch would be to go to Crazy Weed in Canmore. Lots of parking available

http://www.crazyweed.ca/menu.htm#lunch

I think trying to find parking in Banff would be a bit of a bitch

anybody who cant roll out of bed before 9, afford $20, or have a qualifying car for an "exotic cruise" shouldn't be there anyways.

does the $20 go towards a user rating point? :P

Any reason why the stopover in Canmore other than for food? Maybe we should just straight shoot it to Banff instead. I hear the brunch at banff springs is

Let's do that instead. :D

Just curious, but what's to stop a parade of cronies from showing up without paying and driving along with the exotics?

None. That why I thought info on this page would be sent over pm instead of posted public.

Anyhow, pm'd

Great post exactly what I was thinking. It's hard to organize a vehicle specific car cruise without someone getting butt hurt.

There is nothing, that is why most exotic car groups don't advertise. Jordan wanted to include a larger group and that is one of the trade offs.

The Banff Springs brunch sucks now compared to back in the day. They changed locations and shrunk its size considerably.

We are excited to have a great event for a good cause at our dealership. Should be a great day and we look forward to meeting all of you.

As a side note, we do coffee and cars here every Saturday in the spring/summer months and all are welcome to come down. We get some pretty amazing ultra rare cars come through here!

I was suggesting Canmore because parking in Banff may be a clusterfuck. Trying to find a place for all the exotics to park may not be the easiest thing. But I may be wrong :)

For sure.

In the past when we did our Banff cruise we would park in Cascade Ponds and there was always tonnes of parking spots.

Exit off the highway, hit the T intersection and turn right, turn right again and there it is. I can't remember if there was a lot of gravel or not though so might not work.

IS-F yes, sorry I just added it to the list.

I chose Canmore first as iam sure there will be alot more parking for all of us. then rolling into banff I thought would be good.

Whats stopping someone from showing up and not donating to charity...Nothing, it would be a super shitty thing do to though as this is a charity event. I have no problem at all with people coming down to check out the cars at the 9am meeting spot (Aston/Bentley dealership)

If we went by Exotic only there would be three guys showing up. Most of the cars on the list aren't actually exotics. When you try to have a high end car meet the line gets drawn somewhere and the people who aren't invited get upset.

Ouch. Damn low battery keyboard. "Lamborghini" there ya go. As for the C230 well we had to refine the list, I did say that the qualified list was taken from the orginal list, not copied.

The concern for tightening up the car selection was more due to we had a few concerns from others that it was getting to big, a few wanted exotics only.

After spending 3 weeks with an 2011 A4 S-line, I would go to the S5 or get a older A5 with 3.2.

2.0T is competent but I don't like the turbo lag too much. And the engine has a rougher idle too compare to the V6/V8. And with my driving habit, 2.0T only save probably 10% gas compare to my 3.0T.

I was waiting for a dumb comment. I must have forgotten that a gathering of 10,000hp would result in driving miss daisy.

Just so you are aware. This morning at 915am I saw a group of Ferrari's leaving Bridlewood at 22x. They were clearly breaking the speed limit. Don't categorize and blanket that fact people don't use the horse power their cars came with. Because they ALL do. Pretending on a public forum is just as pathetic.

That's not why, it's cause it's a Supra. Pretty low rent on the scale of "exoticness".

Boosted_TL
04-23-2011, 09:39 PM
Fully agree with you there. With that being said there are alot of non exotics on that list. Exotics would be a list of 4-5 manufacturers, not 12. The list would be half the size if there was consistency with the allowance.

I'm not upset lol, I just enjoy cruises with fellow gear heads and this event sounds great. But a 40k 700rwhp is low rent ;)

That's not why, it's cause it's a Supra. Pretty low rent on the scale of "exoticness".

of interesting note, from 93-98 estimates put the MkIV supras at only 200 units in Canada. With only 11,439 units sold in north america during that period.

Worldwide sales of the MkIV during their 9 year production period (1993-2002) sit at only 45,221.

Now i see about half a dozen M3s on that list, don't know numbers for sure but I believe BMW's world wide sales projections (for the M3) are more than double that for only a 6 year period. I even think the MSRP of the MkIV supra vs the e36 M3 were pretty similar.

interesting :D

edit: those bmw sales estimates are for the e90/e92 model, the total e36 M3s sold worldwide during their 7 year production was 71,242 which is about 60% more sales then the mk4 supra over a 2 year less time span than the supra

Hey Guys.

We limited to the list of cars due to logistics (Parking & Restaurant) would be a nightmare with 70 cars. Everyone is more then welcome to come check out the meet at Cars and Coffee at 9am on the 4th of June.

I understand Jordan, fully. It already sounds like its getting nightmare'ish for you so why don't you tone down the list and stick to "exotic's"? With James having Car's N Coffee at his work place every Saturday, cruises will be quite easily created.

On my end, Calgary's scene has been getting progressively weaker and weaker and when an event of this caliber arises it gets exciting. The charity portion of it too is an excellent idea.

And with out question, vid's need to be added to Ask Leo ;)

Can't keep everyone happy. Maybe Jordan can use his exemption card for any special cars not on the list lol I have to say, the Supra was one of my favorite cars growing up. :D

can someone educate me on what is so great about the lotus elise? I use to own a celica gts

That's like saying the Esprit is nothing special because it used Corolla taillights.

Lotus might have used the Toyota engine, but the car is far above the Celica on the performance front in both a second lower 0-60 and superior handling. But to me, the Elise is like the Boxster - still bread as an exotic, but on the lower end of the family.

Even still, at the end of the day, its still a Lotus. And a Celica is... well... a Celica. (I used to have one too.)

Haha, the Elise has nothing besides the engine in common with the Celica. 1900lbs, chasis and suspension designed and built by Lotus. I've had an NSX and a 911, the Elise is just so much more raw. My favourite thing though is that I don't see them every day like most high end cars in Calgary.

Edit: Like Kloubek kind of said, I wouldn't call the Elise an exotic, it's a sports car more like a Vette or a 911.

Dont charity events usually try and incorporate as many people as possible in order to raise the most amount for the charity??

What you guys are doing is organizing a high end auto cruise and making the 15 people allowed to attend pay 20 bucks or whatever in order to drive with you to banff and back. If you were actually trying to organize a charity event you would be making it as large as possible...

The event still has to have a theme (which most charity events do)...which is Luxury/exotic car cruise. We have 25 cars confirmed now iam guessing we will have 50 cars and raise quite a bit of money for the kids help phone.

If we raise 1000.00 for them fantastic, if we raise more even better.

I have had a few beyonders PM me that are not coming asking how they can contribute to the charity. As I said in previous posts, We are urging people to come for the cars and coffee to check out the cars and donate a few bucks to Kids help phone.

Definitely not even close to being able to join the cruise, but some money for charity and just looking at some of the cars would still be pretty awesome. Might just have to pop by in the morning and meet some of you guys and see some of these beauties
