Pretty stupid now that I think about it - They closed it right after we went though because it was getting too deep. The water was defn deeper than I thought

I was in a 2005 xterra and the water was near the top of the doors.

What was the guy in the red pontiac thinking?

I like how the guy in the silver audi took out his cellphone lol.

Wow, that center median is sure sealed up tight, barely any water going through at all.

It is poured right on the asphalt after the road is paved. There are a few spots that are cut for drainage but not too many. You dont want a jersey barrier going flying when someone hits the median.

I said "awesome" when I got out of there but what I was thinking was "wow, that was retarded" - I can't believe cars were trying that. If I started to go fast at all water was coming over the hood.

looks like right before you go down the hill and cross the river when heading north, by Dyck's insurance :D

That is freaking insane, I can't believe they let it get that bad before closing it down.

I would never drive through something that deep, wouldn't even chance it.

Worst nightmare would be moisture coming into the vehicle, getting in the carpet/molding.

I've ALWAYS wondered why people drive through that stuff...

^^No water in the cabin at all. Plus I am not a vagina.

Why the fuck did someone need to be "rescued"?

It's a foot or two deep, and standing still. Just climb out the window and wade through that shit.

^ i saw the vid this morning, a latin american guy, who looked like a person who should ever attempt driving through water like that regardless. also on the news there was this lady in a grand cherokee and her engine stalled but managed to start it again. unfortunately there is no lessons for the average joe for driving through water higher than your exhaust outlet, common sense says don't let the water into your exhaust pipe by keeping the revs up, but again, no training on that when you go through drivers ed or w/e, at least when i took it.

I hope insurance refuses to pay for anybody who drove their vehicle through that and hydrolocked it. I can see hitting a puddle in a rainstorm and having bad luck, but if you see that amount of flooding, WTF

Is crowchild fully open again?

Motorists are directed to use Sarcee Trail, Macleod Trail and Elbow Drive to bypass the closure and avoid delays. The Traffic Management Centre is monitoring traffic flow on the alternate routes and is adjusting signal timing as required. Five message boards are in place to inform drivers of alternate routes.

I don't think it's possible to have worse alternate routes, lol.

One lane going northbound is open. Have fun if you have to drive it.
