I think it's a Dodge, with the grille from a Ford or Mercury.

It's a 1949 Dodge Suburban. Not too sure about the grill.

Entire thing looks to be the "panel" version of a 1948-52 Mercury truck. Don't think there's any Dodge on that body.

Here's a 1952 M100 panel. http://www.goldenageautoclub.com/1953%20mercury%20panel%20truck2.jpg
and here's a 1951 Mercury truck (http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/displayalbum.php?albumid=10226)

and then made it in to a panel truck

It's a Dodge trying to be a Merc.

Pic 4 and 5 looks like sheet metal fabricated to a shape and welded for the body.

Custom truck? :dunno:

yea I think this person is right, front window, shape of side window (obviously cut down a bit) and door pulls look exactly like an early 50s dodge panel truck.

Also if you look it says Higgy's on the side, might offer a place to start.

whatever it is though, its a 100% hack job.

i agree it's a hack job, but on the other hand, maybe the body was rusted and rotted to fuck and the guy only had $1000 to put into it... in which case it's not too bad LOL.

Yeah, I thought it was obvious...

The hinges, where the Dodge emblem is, the hood, the flat face, headlight/marker light location...

The rear section is a little tougher to identify, if it's not a custom job.

You guys don't think maybe it's supposed to look that way?

I'd understand if this was a legitimate attempt at a clean build, but given the popularity of rat rods and the fact that this is a long way from what anyone would call good bodywork, I have to think that it looks like this on purpose.

And I think it's way cooler like this than it would be if it was straight and painted.
