is it posible to add v-tec to the engine in a civic (say 1.4i)?
can the part that makes an engine have v-tec properties be added to any honda engine?
not sure if i phrased it right?

ye i would just swap out ur 1.4 or w/e and drop in a b16a, u get vtec, 160hp and pretty good tq! or you could also do LS/VTEC but it depends on what its going into... IMO b16a is the most practicle, i persoanlly am not a HUGE fan of ls/vtec but a b18c turbo is just straight pimpin!!

the engine must be compatible with an engine that has vtec.. i don't know wtf a 1.4L civic engine is, but if you had a 1.6L engine you could swap some of the parts from a 1.6L vtec engine into yours..

Fuck, if you had a b16 why would you want to swap the parts into a 1.4?? IS there even a 1.4L Honda motor in existence?

Why dont you go all out and just get a b61a or b18b swap?

Instead of trying to hunt down a VTEC head swap for your engine, swap a new one, in the end more power cheaper price?

DO IT

Honda Life is a .7L
Honda Fit come in 1.3L

Didn't see a 1.4 anywhere

i wasn't refering to b series engines. and i don't know wtf a 1.4L honda engine in a civic would be, nor would i think you could swap a 1.6L head onto one if i knew what it was . I was referring to the mini me swaps people do to D series 1.6 L engines.

maybe 1.4 L was a typo? If so the answer is "yes", if not the answer is "huh?"

If the 1.4L is SOHC then you can't rip a head off a B16 and do a VTEC conversion.

Honestly, just do the swap. Hasport makes dope engine mounts. the Driveshaft shop makes axles.

do it

do it now:whipped:

1.4 is an engine for the civic but i guess only in europe, i'm in ireland.

was just wondering could it be done as i've not yet seen 1.4 vtec's on the roads here, seen 1.5's.

engines swap would be a killer on the insurance here quotes are unreal, 4000 euro's isn't very uncommon for a years insurance here.

looking into getting a '97 model civic maybe later this year hence the question

alll you have to do is go on hmotorsonline.com and go to motor mall than the have the complete changeover for a hf to b16 i did it in mine buty i also purached the hasport shifter linkage and the mounts and wiring ( 4 wire vtec) e-z but to a hf you must unplug the reverse lights ,new map sensor, axles& hubs. it costs total 2,250 a;so honda makes a 1.3 in japan and a 1.5, 1.6, 1.7,and more

You could what is called a mini-me you take a 92-2000 civic si head and slap on to your block. assuming that your car has a D series block and is fuel injected and not twin carbed

What does your Accord have to do the a vtec head swap??
I love your Accord badge on the front hood. Why didn't they do that straight from the factory??
