So February 15th, 2011, a 58 yr old man had sideswiped me on Macleod. I was at a total loss as to where to start for shops and what to look for, and was in disbelief in regards to what happened to my car. I looked around on the forums to see what some reputable shop options were. I decided to give Screamin’ Paintworks a call. Dave answered the phone, and from then on, I had dealt with him. I would just like to say, I couldn’t be more appreciative of Dave for his patience and getting back to me on a timely basis, time after time.

I decided to head to the shop to get a quote from them. When my car was hit, it looked like this, not so bad, right? Some of you may have already seen this from my previous thread looking for help after the incident.

Not really the case…. It *actually* looked like this underneath all that crap..

http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/183296_10150151169728417_661888416_8108335_1998891_n.jpg

I had brought it in with high hopes of the repair bill not being too extensive because when it was dirty it only looked like paint transfer / marks. After it was washed (as seen above), it was way worse. When everything was all put together for the quote, I got an estimate for ~$5,200. Needless to say, I was not expecting that, but at the same time, for body work, I couldn’t have expected any less. I knew if I took it to these guys, they would do a good job based on how many positive reviews there were on beyond for them (which I will also thank you guys for!). Basically, my entire driver’s side was getting redone.

That being said, Dave had agreed to throw a few extra things (when I say a few, I mean.. Repaint my front bumper/fender, put my new headlights in, fixed the fitment of my sideskirt, help me out with the deductible, he accidentally pulled a wire out of my driver’s side speaker so he paid for new ones without an issue, fixed my sidemarker as it was never working since I bought the car, replaced a fuse that blew once I took the car out of the shop, pulled a small dent out above my driver window… All I can think of right now.. ) in for me, which I am very grateful for! He informed me getting my front bumper redone with all the prep work and paint could have easily cost me $600. I took a few days to think about it, and then decided I was 100% going to bring my baby to Screamin’ Paintworks. I gave Dave a call, and he gave me an approximate time frame as to how long it would take before my car could go in the shop, as they had other cars to clear out first. After about 2-3 weeks of anticipation, we set up a date to drop off my car. Meanwhile all this was being planned out, Dave was able to contact my adjuster a couple times (somehow, as it had seemed she could never answer the freakin’ phone when I called!!) and was able to get all the insurance papers, etc. from her to go ahead and start the process. Finally!

I had a few questions and bugged Dave a few times along the way after I dropped the car off and I had also stopped by about 3 times over the span of ~2 weeks to see the progress because the anticipation of having my car back and how awesome it would look was killing me!! I emailed Dave several times, asked for some pictures of specific parts of my car and a few progress photos. He delivered right away each time and I was very happy to see the overall progression.

Friday, April 23rd (being the third time I stopped by, I think), I had stopped by to see how things were going. To my surprise, I get to see this….

I was extremely happy and was informed my car should be ready hopefully by Monday the 25th, if not Tuesday, the 26th. The paint match looked near perfect. Oddly enough, I don’t think I’ve had a smile that big on my face for a LONG time.

Monday rolls around, I didn’t get a call :( I called the rental place to ask a question or two about returning the car, and he said he would call the shop for me to see how much longer it would be. I didn’t want to call myself because I didn’t want to rush or bother them. I get a call back from the rental guy, and he tells me Wednesday. I was also told Dave would call me to keep me posted. I got an email about 5-10 mins later from Dave himself that he’ll make up for the extra couple days I had to pay $6/day for the rental, as my bill was already at $113 (damn being under 21 policy, which insurance doesn’t cover..).

So I waited for Wednesday to roll around, excited as hell. Wednesday arrives; I call Dave around 1:45pm and ask him how things are looking. He tells me the car is at the alignment shop getting the hit wheel aligned / balanced and that it could be back as late as 5pm, and he still has things to do to clean it up, etc. and the earliest she’d be done would probably be about 7pm. At this point I’m like jumping in my skin just waiting. I told Dave I would stop by in a couple hours to see how far he’s gotten and such, so I stopped by at 8:30pm (Yes, this man stays long hours to deliver cars, I was very pleased) and WOW I could not believe how amazing my car looked. After some chatting, he says it might be another 3 hours and asks what my time flexibility is like. I willingly would have picked my car up at 12:30am if it had to be that late, haha. So we leave, go drive around a bit more and sit down for coffee. 10pm, Dave calls me telling me she’s done! I ecstatically arrive at the shop at 10:30pm and wanted to hug my car, but no one wants to see that so I held off a little.. haha. After eye-boggling it for a few minutes, it’s time to leave, and I am a very happy customer. :D !

Need I say though.. the difference between a rental automatic sedan Altima, and my Celica is ridiculously stupid, I almost forgot how to drive my own car.

Here she is when we stopped by at 8:30pm..

I don't currently have nice pictures of how she looks, but when it's nicer out I will definitely update the thread and post some to justify their masterpiece. :)

On that note, I can finally go to beyond meets because I have my baby back!!

Cheers to Screamin’ Paintworks. Dave you were awesome, and Dan was also great help. I would recommend these guys to anyone. I would also like to add once again, thank you Dave for being patient with me because I kept annoying the shit out of you between coming to visit and my questions. All I can say is thank you so much, my car looks PERFECT!!!!

I had my truck in a couple of weeks ago - It was literally a painless event. They took it in, fixed it on-time and did an unreal job. What more could you ask for?

I'm bringing in a front bumper for them to paint in a couple weeks. :) Was thinking about letting them do the install as well but don't want to pay the extra $170 :(

Dan is the man. He has been providing me with advice and quotes for body work ever since I got my s2000. Now that my car needs work and will be heading into the shop in two weeks, I am really excited.

Saw your car in the shop on Wednesday and I must say that they definitely put lots of hard work into it. I also picked up my freshly painted gold wheels that day and I am VERY impressed with their work. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Thanks Dan and Dave!

They did excellent work on my car for hail damage as well. Pretty much painted the entire car!

Thanks guys.

The fact that he's 58 yrs old means he's apparently too incompetent to tell the truth and drive properly.

Freestylin, they did put a lot of hard work into the car, it looks amazing and I couldn't be happier with the body work. I wish I was able to get the other side painted though. Ah well.

They are 17" Gold Konig Feathers.

edit; also, one of my lugs went missing :dunno: so I'm sporting a random red one on the front wheel until I buy / find the other one. No idea where the hell it fucked off to.

The only thing i learned from your post is that you are impatient and like to annoy ppl.

How far in advance did you have to book?

P.S. I've had work done with them before and they are great.

I just let them know I was ready to bring it in because I was putting my new springs in before giving it to them, but they also had to clear the shop of a car or two before mine went in. That's the only reason it took a while to go in. I think they just base their schedule on when the current car they have in is done, then will accept a new project.

Post above; Thanks :)

This I can vouch for...when my Civic was in their shop winter of 07 they were nothing short of fantastic to all my requests for me taking pictures and waiting on changes and decisions...
