Never thought I would have to do this... Has anyone noticed that almost all gas stations charge for air now to pump up your tires? Does anyone know where this is still free? It just seems so ludacris that gas stations are charging you for air...

two things:

1) It's "ludicrous" :P

2) Centex 16th, across from North Hill Mall, has free air. As does the Co-op gas station at Brentwood, beside the Wendy's.

I have my own compressor that fits in the car and runs off the cigarette lighter plug

There is a Petro Canada near my house in Evergreen, that accepts quarters. However, if you go inside, the attendant will start the pump and you can use as long as you want as long as you shut it off when finished. :dunno:

I asked him about it one time, and he said it isn't to make money, just to discourage people abusing it?:dunno:

If you gas up (or just ask nice) it's free.

They aren't charging for air. They are charging for the ongoing maintenance, wear and tear and the privilege to use it.

How many times have you pulled up to one that's free and voila... no hose or broken altogether. Now that they've been 25 cents, they are in great shape, ready to use any time.

IMO, for the amount I use it (probably twice a month).... I'm not that much of a cheapass to complain about $6 per year. Especially won't travel and spend more in gas to find a free one.

I go to race trac gas in ogden. free there plus it has lots of pressure because they use it for the tire shop.

I guess any tire shop should help you out with air.

25 cents? Most places I've seen charge a buck.

Coop ftw!

Yeah! I understand 25 cents, but charging a dollar is crazy. I had to pay 2$ yesterday to fill up 2 bikes at the Petro in Marda Loop.

I don't know if this will discourage people from abusing the machines because yesterday when I paid 2$ for air I was so annoyed I just chucked the hose out of my box and left it. No way I'm going to hang it back up after paying 2$ for something that's always been free.

Coop in Falconridge just transformed their system to accept coins.

This world is definitely after me and wants to rob me of all my money.

Charging to use those little dinky compressors is ridiculous. If it was a full size compressor, sure I'll pay a buck, but those little $50 compressors take forever to put any air in your tires.
