View Full Version : New tires....

I'm in need of two new tires if i'm gonna make it through the winter....

Now, considering if I want to sell the car around this time next year, I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I also want something I can race a bit on next year (maybe.... just maybe solo2 if I'm brave enough....)

The stock is 205/55/16H Eagle RS-A's. But 1010tires says 189 bucks each! That's a little more than I want to spend.... Anyone have some suggestions? I guess what I'm looking for is an all-season, that will be okay for winter, and for solo2...

Thanks! :)

Well, based on reviews I've been reading, and my price range, here's what I'm looking at. Please comment.

Dunlop SP Sport A2, All season
Pirelli P4000 Supertouring, All season
Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring HR, All season
Yokohama Avid H4, All season

Thoughts? Comments? Other suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

RS-A:rofl:
Not sure why you even considered them for replacement.

IMO - winter tires are a better choice when it comes to all season.

The Avid H4's might be your cheapest choice - might be able to find a used set.

I was considering stock replacements because I didn't really want to mis-match a set of tires.... but for that price, forget it!

The avid H4 on 1010tires are going for 140 each... still a little pricey, but I don't want an absolute garbage tire...

Anyone also have recommendations where I can go locally for prices?

Also... my stockers are speed rated H. What happens if the two new ones are different? Anything? What about the load rating and UTQG? I don't have to match it all perfectly, do I?

sorry for my ignorance on the subject...

I can give the RS-A an A+ for wear. And the fact that I could put 54 psi in them was bonus...lol

Well, with that profile - "55" it will be pricey either way.

Go check out www.performance-shop.com for tires as well (local).

Not only are RS-A's horribly over priced but they wear out way too quick IMHO. Whatever you do, don't get more of them. :thumbsdow

At performance-shop.com I got $146 each, including tax. Next month I'll probably pick up 4. :)

haha, wearing out at 50k eh.. you think thats bad?

I've gone through 2 sets of tires at only 28k.

A set of my 15" stock tires, and a set of 17" Michelin Pilot's

I also recommend bridgestone potenzas. I have them on my other car (celica) and am quite happy with them. Good price too...

I have no problems with the ECSTA 712's.
They grip well on the track and on the street :burnout:
Inexpensive as well :)

I've gone through my share of tires... though not as fast as rage2 :D

My next set I'm gonna be looking at a set of Falken Azenis.
