Dogs and cats are cool but Parrots rule, they live to be 100 years old. This is Cosmo a 10 year old blue and gold macaw,had him since he was 3 months old, had to hand feed him like a baby.
I let him fly around the house when he wants. Does he talk oh ya maybe a little to much some times lol.

I was going to PM this, but I think it's a testament to those who have ever thought of 'rescuing' a dog.


The smaller bitch is Nikita and I raised her from a puppy. The sire was a King Doberman (not fond of them for health reasons) and the mother was registered. This made Nikita a non-purebred by CKC definition and, as such, she was $300 with tail, claws, and shots. As far as I could go back into her bloodlines, she seems okay.

The other, the bigger dog, is Sundance. I acquired this dog while working in Drayton Valley. In my previous life I worked very closely with the local Animal Control Officer.

As we had been discussing getting a 'playmate' for Nikita, I decided to wake up early on a day off and listen to the radio (very out of the norm for me!). There was a lost & found and sure enough they were trying to find Sundance's owners.

One look at him and we knew he was someone's prize. Seems purebred, excellent temperament & disposition, yada yada. Anyway, we searched for over a month for the owner to no avail.

I guess you can say he was 'free'. I know several breeders that will sell a clean doberman for $900-$1500 so expect to pay for what you get.

Nikita, although a sweetheart, has some minor urinary problems that may be attributed to an inexperienced breeder. Whatever the cause, the two dogs get along famously! It's going to be a sad day for all around me when one of these dogs go!

Moral: Do not be swayed into thinking a rescued dog, or an adopted pet will be a problem dog (this is what I believed).
