Simple question. Would you let someone test ride your bike if he was "interested" in buying?

Not without a damage deposit for the full amount I am asking for it.

only if I thought they were ready to buy it

I'll be buying next spring and I wouldn't intend anyone to let me...I'd definitely would like to see it running though.

No test rides for sure, unless you're a good friend.

You pay in full, you test ride, you don't like it after you test ride you get your cash back, you crash, I keep your money, you keep damaged bike hahaha pretty simple

I'm suprised people actually answered yes....

My thoughts are No, but would say yes if they were willing to give me full amount prior to them test riding it, and I wouldn't really expect them to be going anything more than either up and down the street.

i would but definitely with a deposit and a drivers license saying he has a class 6 so if they fuck off, i know who it is. they would get both back after they brought it back in one piece.

any bike i looked at, people had no problem letting me test ride it with the above, even less.

I've done it but only if I had payment in full for the bike in hand.

I agree with these two, that is how I've always done it. Get a bank draft in hand then go for a boot.

I have bought and sold bikes before without riding them. That being said I would allow people to ride them for test purposes only if I got a good price, money in hand, and filled out BOS.

If the person was willing to give me my full asking price in cash prior to riding it I would let them. But that's pretty much my only way.

I've test ridden all my bikes...after giving the owner the cash.

i've test ridden a couple bikes for friends that were looking to buy. never had to give the seller anything, only showed them my license.

I've let a few people ride, typically its bring your own gear, class 6, and a cash deposit (~500-1000$) after we've gone through everything else.

If someone shows up and the first thing they want to do is ride it, not a chance.

Funny this came up, I test rode a bike yesterday. It was one of my friends selling, but still, no deposit and he was even willing to lend me a helmet to test it.

I had brought my own helmet and jacket though, he's ridden with me before and knows that I was serious about buying the bike, so that does make a difference.

same as everyone else - cash before riding

i think as riders, everyone kinda understands why it doesn't happen regularly

I was very interested in this guys bike, and he said that I was the most knowledgeable and interested and he just out and said, take it for a quick spin...

I guess it depends on the person. If I just watched the bike go up and down the street that would work for me if they didnt want me riding it.

another thing i wouldnt mind is if the person came with another person and they stayed with me. plus deposit.

I would only let someone with a class 6 license... (and of course I would require a deposit of the full asking price).

I test rode the first bike I bought, I didnt even ask, or put any cash down. I didn't test ride the bike I just bought, but I could definitely see whether it was In good shape. I would not permit a test ride on my old bike, I've been witness to friends dropping bikes in person, I know how easy it is and have no interest unless there is asking price in my hand.

only way anyone would test ride my bike would be to put the full amount im asking for the bike in my hand then he can do whatever he wants with it hahaha

I've bought bikes and sold them. Never took a deposit or gave one. As long as they have a class 6 and the vehicle they come in is registered under there name I'll take they keys to that while they gO for a spin. Never had a problem and have done this at least 10-15 times in the past 2 years

I've let people test ride mine before, mind you they rode up on their own bike and left it at my place while test riding.
