I need 2 36''x12'' sheets (2 layers of 6oz cloth, no core) ..... does anybody do cf work? (cue comments about George, heh)

I figured I'd check first before ordering from the US .... I'm taking a temporary break from trying to make my own cf stuff because it's darn hard to get a quality finish w/o vacuum bagging (too many air bubbles/etc...)

Why not get a vacuum bagging setup? It's all available locally, pretty cheap, and bagging is the easiest part of the CF process to do imo

Industrial Paint and Plastics has Carbon Fibre as well as Kevlar. All you need is in that store.

I know - notice the I'm taking a break from making my own stuff part ;)

W/o vaccuum bagging (which I don't really feel like getting into) it's very hard to do a wet layup and have a perfectly visual appealing piece.

I did have a chat with charles (hoodlum customs) but he never got back to me. seems like he only does overlays.

Buy a vacuum pump, the bag, tape, make a male plug, then make a female mold. Pm me, and we can make some sick looking pieces.

The better finished the mold, the better the finish on the carbon.

What we built at the McMaster Race team:

A look at how nice the carbon looked:

A look at the infusion setup. We used a setup one step above vacuum bagging called vacuum assisted resin infusion. You wet it as you lay it, but then let the vacuum pull and disperse the resin. The more resin you use, the better the finish. Although the biggest key is the finish on the mold.

It's a shame we never figured out how to make an engine that ran properly/didn't blow up... :(
