My XM radio has been cancelled for about 2 months now and it is still working but we are not getting charged? Whats up with that? Maybe free service for good?? Has this happen to anyone else? :dunno:

Yeah same thing with me a couple years ago when I had sirius, I cancelled it and it worked for 3 months afterwards, and then one day stopped. They kept calling though to get me to renew

Bought the car used three months ago, the dealer said it would expire later in the month of purchase, but I still got it. I wonder if the previous owner got charged for a renew.

Seriously though.... is anyone sick of Sirius yet? It's the same crap over and over again on every station. (I don't listen to the talk shows)

Yeap. My subscription is done in June, and I'm not renewing. Honestly, I love commercial free radio, but that's what my smart phone is for now, lol.

The only reason I still listen to Sirius, is Jason Ellis, and that's not worth the price. Wish he'd sell his daily show as podcasts though.

It has nothing to do with changing channels.

Back in the day, when you activated Sirius/XM, it sends an activation signal down when your receiver is on which activates it for good. When you first deactivate, Sirius/XM will send a deactivation signal down every 5-10 mins, after a while, every hour, then later on, once or twice a month. If your receiver is on when it gets the deactivation signal, it'll get deactivated.

From what I know, they've changed the activation system slightly to prevent people from leaving their recievers off for a long time and getting lifetime activations. When you activate it now, it sends an activation signal down that's good for several months. Then it routinely sends an update (daily/weekly depending on how close to expiry) to keep the subscription active for another few months. So even if you turn off your receiver for a long time to avoid the deactivation signal, it'll still expire.

That makes sense. I've been using my Sirius since 2004 for free after having it in the junk bin for over a year. They all sound like crap anyway, so it wouldn't bother me to lose service.

I just make sure I have all 10 presets loaded up, but I have hip hop, rNb, country, trance, metal and Covino and Rich so it never gets that boring for me.

I got 2 years and 9 months free to Golds Gym, changed the credit card number 3 months after initial sign up and no one ever caught on. Pretty sweet deal.

i was so close to getting a sirius subscription but then i found TuneIn Radio app for android which is free (.99 on iphones i think) is THE best streaming radio imo - thousands of stations that cater to absolutely everyone. RCA to 3.5 mm jack or iphone FM dock and you're good to go, barely eats up your 3g too

The car wouldn't happen to be a 2009 SWP WRX hatch? I traded mine in, in January, with active satellite radio and it expires next Monday (May 16):)
