I dunno what kind of "unique circumstances" led to him leaving his gear in his van...but that's asking for problems...and yes, let that be a lesson to people that as soon as you make money with your gear your insurance company will try to stiff you if anything ever happens. It's worth the extra expense of business insurance just to have it covered in case anything happens. If you're not making money off your gear, be sure to keep in mind how much money worth of gear is actually in your house, and make sure your home insurance policy has enough contents insurance to cover it all.

When I bought the 200mm f2 VR, I figured I should finally get separate insurance on my gear. It was scary how big the total was.
