S4 and S5 diffs are different... You want to clarify that you want an S4 Clutch pack style differential. They are the bullet proof ones. The S5s came with viscous type LSDs.

The car is an S5, but has an S4 Tranny and a 1 way mazdaspeed LSD, do I need an S5 or an S4 diff?

they're different but interchangeable. what you need to specify is turbo or NA. they're very different.
