Whenever I ship a tranny out for rebuild (don't trust any of these guys in Calgary) I usually split the weight between two rubbermaid containers. Bellhousing, torque converter & misc in one, transmission case in other. Zipties to keep the lid shut and also for the TSA if they want to look for bomb parts and terror items?

This way the weight is under the limit (no special pickup fees, etc.) but you have to remember that the destination is being paid to disassemble/reassemble anyway.
