calling it a mini build just because its a family car, gets daily driven. probably gonna keep it simple. so far ive done a small debadge, added an ipod alpine deck, dvd headrests, 18" 8th gen Honda Accord wheels and function and form type 1 coilovers, rolled fenders(rear)and removal of the "aftermarket" spoiler that was on it before i got it.

future plans include painting some exterior pieces, different wheels for next summer for some MOAR LOW and hellaflush, going the VIP route on it. any suggestions or anything you want to say, post it up!

how it sat 2 weeks ago

then threw on the Accord wheels

DVD headrests

how it sat as of yesterday, way too much rubbing up front had to raise it up. as it sits now, its about a 2.5" drop all around. once i get smaller tires ill go down to about a 4".

broke a sway bar end link when installing the coilovers yesterday

you guys think if i pull the fender liner out, itll stop rubbing? is it a good idea to take them out?

I imagine you could cut any rubbing areas if you like. I wouldn't take them out entirely - it keeps it clean... both visually and literally.

are those plugs in the trunk from where a wing was mounted?

03ozwhip
05-15-2011, 06:05 PM
ya, there was an olds alero wing on it lol this used to be my father in laws car for about 8 years so he did it before i bought it. removed it 2 weeks ago.

I wouldn't take them out if you're planning on driving it year round.

If its gonna be a summer car only, then maybe just cut where it rubs

is it true that the transmission go very bad after every 20,000km on this yr/model?

03ozwhip
05-16-2011, 05:53 PM
lol i know it was at a huge ride height haha, these tires are tall as fuck, as soon as i can get rid of them, ill be putting on 225/40s. as for the tranny question, they can go at any time. mine went once already, got it fixed and parts were replaced by different parts than OEM because of the failing issues and i have a 2 year warranty.

not all tranny places replace the actual issue, they just replace with OEM and then it will go again at any time. thanks for the replies guys, more to come for sure.

edit: as far as the rubbing goes, its because of how big the tires are. it doesnt rub constantly. again, will be addressed when i get smaller tires.

Looks good so far. I like the progress.

I would recommend changing the tail lights to 02-03. It made a huge difference on my TL. Check out a1hondaautoparts sometimes you can get it for cheap. As for low you should do this:

Yea that was one of my favorite rides! Unfortunetly that's not mine. I think I posted some pics of my TL awhile ago. It's going to be hard, but you should try to get the oem body kit.

thanks bro, the F2s actually suprassed my expectations for a coilover at such a good price, the ride is awesome. if it werent for the tires, there would be no rubbing and a pretty smooth ride. now when i drop it more, it will change a but but i think itll still be pretty good.

mind you the stock shocks have NEVER been changed lol so the ride is hadly comparable to a set of good shocks, its just better than what it was haha

nice car. i would skip the tint. i would also try to find some 2002 tails with the red/white only

03ozwhip
05-30-2011, 07:02 PM
ya i dunno what to do with the tint, i have a kid in the back and its crazy bright fo him sometimes so i might bite the bullet and do it. as for the tails, im still looking for some for a good price.

Look's pretty sweet man, i'd space those wheels out a bit, get some tires that will stretch and tint the windows.

03ozwhip
08-23-2011, 07:21 AM
ya theyre stock Accord +55 offset so a little sunk, more than likely im going to do a 15-20 mm spacer at some point.

03ozwhip
04-22-2012, 02:03 PM
alright, time for an update. sold the accord wheels and bought some Work Eurolines. specs are 18x8 +30 215/40/18 in the front and 18x9 +25 225/40/18 in the rear.

to make them fit properly i had to get smaller tires and stretch them a bit, have to lower the car a tad in the front and a good amount in the rear, a pull in the rear and POSSIBLY a camber kit, not sure yet, im just having a bit of a time with the coilovers.

here are the wheels. gonna do a good detail on the car before i put them on.

those look like my old eurolines. you buy them off taran?

03ozwhip
04-22-2012, 07:05 PM
ya i got them off of taran, so ya they must have been yours lol i cant wait to get them on, but i was having a bitch of a time with my coils, im gonna try it again maybe tomorrow to get them to the right height for these bad boys to look good.

maybe itll be worthy of a poor form decal? ill throw a lexus badge on it to qualify bahaha

03ozwhip
06-03-2012, 04:50 PM
alright guys, so i got it dialled in, possibly going to try a tad lower in the rear but i think i will rub. everything that i can roll/pull/cut has been done.

specs one more time....18x8 +30 fronts and 18x9 +25 rears, no camber kit. did a pre-wax, still needs a wax and clay bar and she done.

also, im no pro photographer, take it easy on me lol

Try a spray tint on just the orange signal part. You'll have to basically go black so it doesn't get that shitty dark orange thing happening.

Nice work!

get them retrofits done! changes the look completely. i did mine on my own, had LED's put into the projector to mimick the demon eye effect for fun (only really visible at night if the headlights were off, disabled the DRL's. rear tails had a black vinyl strip against the reflector part of the light. i guess at the time i was going for a stealth look so the car was next to invisible with the headlights off at night (i was young... :p)

i also did up the audio system in the car and had it compatible with ipod/iphone video, netflix, pandora, bluetooth, etc with a pioneer head unit, pioneer components, and a pioneer slim 8" in the back.

if you want to keep the sub open air like stock, i'd say stick to the stock midbass driver...or replace it with a midbass driver that you like, don't stick a slim sub into that spot - it won't work well and clearance is an issue, better off getting a box if you go that route.

also, the stock sub in the back has wiring that is good for a small amp setup. it was a bitch to figure out but you can find plugs behind the oem system to run your RCA signals through stock wiring, you can also get switched 12v through it too, doubt it'd be enough for any serious setup though.

06-06-2012, 06:51 AM
i also have my original OEM headlight housings (i purchased a second set so i'd have no downtime while doing the retrofit) somewhere in my house for the car if you're interested in doing your own retrofit.

nice TL. I see you had to "massage" the rear fender arch quite a bit. looks deadly with those wheels and ride height.

I'll have to show the pics of your car to my GF to convince her we need coils for her TL.. we just picked up some 20s for it this spring
