RIP Macho Man Randy Savage

TMZ is reporting that the legendary WWE Superstar, and former WWE and WCW Champion, "Macho Man" Randy Savage died in a car accident in Florida this morning.

TMZ spoke to Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo, who revealed that Savage suffered a heart attack while driving a car in Tampa, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle.

Randy Savage was 58 years old and just last month had celebrated his one-year anniversary with his wife Lynn.

He was one hell of a talent, with so many epic matches (WM III, WM V, WM VII, WM VIII, feuds with Santana, Steamboat, Hogan, Flair, Warrior, DDP...). Always appreciated his intensity and character. One of my favourite wrestlers from my childhood... whenever I hear the tune "Pomp and Circumstance" I instantly think of Randy Savage and how great he is.

I think I'll be watching his DVD again this weekend :(

Randy "Macho Man" Savage, awesome performer, part of the 1st Golden Age of wwe/wwf for me. Gone too soon, only 58 he just remarried last year. Sucks. He's off the ultimate Saturday Night Main Event.

I recall recording this off of either WWF Cavalcade or Maple Leaf Wrestling when it originally aired in 1993 on 2&7. I still have it on an old VHS tape somewhere. Those two hours every Saturday (11 am to 1 pm) were some of my favourite hours each week when I was growing up.

I never paid attention to the lyrics (as they really don't make sense), but it was great seeing all of those flying elbows especially the ones to jobbers like Terry Taylor, Papa Shango, or Repo Man near the end of the video.

Music video is the same, but the intro is different (this looks to be from the Saturday morning show, WWF Mania, which I don't think we got here in Canada)
