View Full Version : Cheapest car with best mileage?
What is the cheapest car in Canada that still gets great mileage?
Into price, take into account financing, ie if they offer zero percent etc.
Comments please??

Look at the fiat 500, I've been looking at the small cars and mileage and it's one of the best for the cheapest. Saw one yesterday, I like it.

$17,500 (incl. destination) and 5.99% financing for every term . Not the cheapest.

Ah you're right, a little more than I thought. Still a cool little car but wow the fiesta is cheap!

The spec sheet says something different so I'm not sure where the disparity comes from.

The new civic sedan is a much nicer car than a fiesta or accent and it's 14,990.00 for the basic model. The 2011s are on at T&T for 0.9% finance or lease.

You fail at reading. Let me show you the quote again. with emphasis to help you out.
Ford Fiesta
$14,647.00
4.9/100km city / 6.8/100km hwy
Hyundai Accent Sedan
$14,694.00
4.9/100km city / 6.7/100 hwy
So now tell us again how these cars get better mileage in the city....
Obviously the numbers are wrong. That's all he's pointing out.

Hold off for a little while longer, the Hyundai Veloster (3 door hatch with 6 speed manual and very sporty) comes out soon. Will get better gas mileage than the Accent, be quicker, and looks awesome!

Sorry, WHO'S failing at reading?
Look at the little letters beside each number on the Hyundai photo. I know languages change over time, but last I checked, HWY still means Highway, and CITY still means City

Exactly.
I read the same thing. I figured we were pointing out that he obviously got his numbers backwards.

nobody pointed this out yet, so I'll be that guy.
If you are looking to save money, buying a new car for the fuel economy is an insane idea.
Buy a used car, save several thousand dollars, and fuck the fuel economy.
For example, if you drive 25,000 km/yr, all city, fuel cost $1.50/l.
2011 Hyundai Accent = $3150/yr
2005 Ford Crown Victoria = $5513/yr
That's pretty much the worst case scenario, and you're only saving $2362 a year on gas.

I assumed he was looking to prove a point to someone, something that has decent monthly payments (nothing used is going to have that), or as a purchase for someone else who isn't mechanically savvy enough to fix their own cars. Most used stuff is going to need work.

Oh, I know there are some valid reasons, but like I said, I'm "that guy" when it comes to adding financial advice to every conversation.
