View Full Version : Older movies to watch (80's and 90's)?

I don't mean like pre 80's (even though suggestions would be fine), but since I was a child in the 90's, I have missed a LOT of brilliant movies.

For instance, just the other night I watched American Beauty; now I know Kevin Spacey is a damn good actor to begin with, but I thought he did VERY well in it. The movie was striking due to its similarities to many people's boring ol' lives. I liked it a LOT!

So ya, basically, this thread is for 80's thru the 90's movie. You can even include some early millennium stuff, because lets not kid ourselves (myself?), I was only 12 in the year 2000 so I wasn't exactly a movie connoisseur then.

That's not very creative rage, anybody who hasn't watched those movies needs their heads checked! And yes, Scarface is one seriously amazing movie. I'd only ever watched bits and pieces until recently, but watching the whole thing was like

My recommendations are bulletproof son. You should watch these.
True Romance was also another awe inspiring film. Apparently Tarantino's first hit?

I can see my modem trembling in fear already of the downloading spree that is about to commence! Keep 'em coming! :bigpimp:

*incase you didn't notice, movies I left quoted I have watched. Movies removed means I must download them ASAP!

Sort of. He wrote it, but didn't direct it so it's not a Tarantino film in the truest sense.

Well the reason I brought those up was because my brother was born in 1990, and it wasn't until the last 3 years that he watched those. Figured you 90'ers are deprived!

I like movies from that era too. During the 80's and 90's there wasnt as much emphasis on special effects, the movies were story and character driven. Some of them were really corny but, I think they are still fun to watch. Not all of these are great but these are some of the movies that I remember from my childhood. I'll start with the 80's and post 90's later.

The most brilliant movie I've ever seen is a Canadian movie called "Real Time".

A couple of other brilliant flicks are Pan's Labyrinth and Office Space.

Thought Lost Highway and Blue Velvet were better. After you seen those two Mulholland Dr is kinda “typical Lynch” at that point. But it was a good movie no doubt
