NOT

a high speed chase is the most dangerous thing a cop will ever be involved in...

calling off a chase through calgary to persue with hawcs in order to pick up the chase in an area of their choosing is EXACTLY why hawcs was purchased in the first place.

^:werd: Following him at high speed with a few police cars would make him drive erratically, probably ending with a MVA on Deerfoot and a few deaths. Pulling back and tracking him with HAWCS until he can be safely stopped is exactly what should happen.

^^ :werd: Especially when CPS pretty much do not engage in pursuits at all, unless HAWCS is available. If the chopper is in the air, or can be launched in short order, they'll likely let the units follow him for a few minutes, but if its a super busy time of day or if HAWCS is busy, they'll just shut it down right away.

RCMP tend to be more tactical in pursuits, with spike belts and such, cause of the low traffic levels in rural areas. At least, this is all how I understand it from hearing and reading about past pursuits.

is it really necessary to quote the entire post from the OP?
