Live in coventry and work in airdrie. Need to get the wifes cavalier looked at. Think it needs a new alternator and threw a code today. My code reader ony works on my ford truck.

I have been told to check out smart auto. Anykne work or know of any honest shops in this area?

I don't have a suggestion for a shop, but if you take the car to any Auto Value store they'll be able to read the code for free. That should at least give you an idea of what you're dealing with, and could save some significant money if it's something simple that you can do yourself. The last time I had a code read at a shop the bill was $80 and the problem just resurfaced.

Dont go to smart automotive, they are overpriced morons IMO. I can tell you a few stories if you really want me to, just trust me, forget them.

i wonder if highland automotive in airdrie is still around? they were really good.

I'd suggest going to Broken Axle. It's only about 10 minutes away from coventry and I've had nothing but amazing experiences the last few times I've been there.

+1 for Auto value

They have given me codes and looked up the code sheets for me.

In return, I go to them for my standard maintenance stuff like fluids and filters.

Good luck!

If you are still looking for a shop, I'll x2 Broken Axle. Dave is honest and a straight shooter.

That's weird, pretty sure they'd be open. I was there last week and they were getting busy, looks like the good service and prices are paying off.

They do work on cars too though. They're willing to do all sorts of things, even a fuel cut off switch for me hopefully next week.
