I have a 95 Talon TSI AWD which I have put a lot of work into. I've been thinking it's time to get something new, but I don't really have any idea what it's worth or what I can realistically expect to get for it. I really don't want to think about how much time/money I've put into it, but here's a quick list of what I've done that I can think of off the top of my head:
- Full 97 eclipse body conversion (mint)
- Garret t3/t4 turbo
- Greddy e-01 boost controller
- SDS fuel system
- APEX racing FMIC
- TurboXS BOV
- Turbosmart external wastegate
- 600cc injectors
- Cometic HP head gasket
- Heavy clutch
- Eibach prokit springs
- AGX shocks
- Full custom exhaust
- ported intake manifold
- New master/slave clutch cylinders + SS clutch line
- 17" mille miglia wheels
- lowered 1.5"
- viper alarm
- Fairly awesome stereo...I'd have to look up the details, but basic components are 2 amps, 2 10" subs, new alpine speakers (x6), big-ass cap, clarion deck with a pop-up LCD screen.

It has 106K kms on it, the last time I dyno'd it it made 400hp at the wheels...it's pretty pimp - the vast majority of the work was done by Marc @ alpine autowerks. There are a few pictures of it in various states of work up at www.virgeweb.com/redec/cars/talon/ ...the latest pics are in the 'porn' subdir.

I really have no idea what I could I expect to get for it...Any advice/opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm guessing between $4000-4500.
Maybe $5000 Firm, if you have receipts.

Unfortunately, Mods on these(well, most..) cars don't add much to the blackbook value. :dunno:

Wow OG member with an OG ride. I would say 8-10K would be a fair value. I'm in the same boat as you, I've thought about selling my mr2 but for the 10-15K that I might get it just isnt worth it.

The mileage really drives up the value of this one.
Having quality parts installed by a professional venue helps too....

I think that car is worth around $8,000.

OP, you might get a better price if you listed the vehicle in Vancouver (revscene). Lots of market out there for a vehicle like this.

i am in agreement with 8-10k, i think that is pretty fair. Any more than that and you might have a tough time finding a buyer in this market. Any less than that and I think you'd be cheating yourself.

It is a great looking car, don't let it go to just anyone either!

I'd say 6500-7000 would be a fair price for it.Yes you have time and money into it,you should also consider removing some mods and selling the car as a very minty talon and selling the parts. You could still sell the car without the mods in basicly the same price range of $6500.But still sell parts and be able to make a few grand on selling the parts alone.
It all comes down to how quick you want to get rid of it aswell. You can post it for sale for $10,000.00 and it will sit for roughly 6 months untill you get a bite from a serious buyer.Your best bet would be to post it up on other sites and other car related forums.Lots of tire kickers on Beyond.

That is a clean looking Talon/Eclipse

But like has been said you might have a tough time selling it for much over 8K.

8 - 10k? thats crazy.
the cars 16 years old. even though its nice, and has a ton of mods, it doesn't drive up the value that much. I know in my accord it didn't.

I say around 5k maybe 6k.

btw why are you selling it? what kinda new car are you thinking of getting?

Unless you find someone looking for exactly the mods you have, don't expect to get anything over what a stock version of the car is worth. Most people view mods like that as a reliability/maintenance nightmare (even if it isn't), especially on an older car.

If you have the time to keep it up for sale until the right buyer comes a long, you will likely be able to get the small premium you're after. Looks like you have a very nice sample on your hands.

exactly, and IMO the mods actually lower the value. most people want to do their own mods, anyhow. i would try and sell the 'stock' car and parts as others have mentioned above.

You'll only get what a stock car of that year is worth, UNLESS you find someone who is willing to pay a premium for your mods, which might be difficult.

Here's an example:

I used to own an SRT-4, and this fellow in Winnipeg got his at the same time I did mine.

He worked at a Dodge dealership and spent a LOT of time and money on modifying his car properly. As you can see from this thread, he estimates he "invested" close to 80k in mods over the years (why....I don't know...as all the haters liked to say - it's still just a Neon!).

It only had 38,000 Kms on it and did 438 / 440 to the wheels on pump gas with a conservative tune.

His mod list is very extensive.

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f293/fs-2004-srt-4-one-only-up-sale-568289/

So, it was bascially a 7 year old car with all the aforementioned mods, and he was asking 20k for it. No one was interested and he eventually dropped the price to 12K. Even at that, he still couldn't move it and decided to keep it.

This is the bane of modding cars...if I were you, I would remove the mods (as much as you can) and just sell it for fair market value of that make / model then sell the go fast parts separately; OR bite the bullet and perhaps list it a bit higher than what a stock model would sell for, and hope someone is willing to pay the extra premium, but if not, being prepared to sell it at the "stock" market value regardless.

Part out as much as you can and then sell the car. :werd:

If you dont NEED to sell it but want to move away at some point just put it up on various sites for an elevated price. Leave it up there for a while, chances are you'll get a few interested parties that are looking for exactly that car with those mods. These are the people who'll pay above blackbook value.

I sold my last car to a guy from Vancouver island because it was exactly what he was looking for and he was willing to pay and ship it. If I was in need of the money or had to get rid of the car I probably could have but would have had to ask 30% less just to get it to move quickly.

Depends on your situation.

This car made 400awhp on a stock longblock? Thats impressive lol

Very Very nice car sir. I would suggest leaving the car as is and selling it. Someone is always willing to pay top dollar for a nice car. Also most dsm'rs are cheap bastards so parting it out would only cost you more headaches and you wouldnt get much more money for it.

hehehe....speaking of which I forgot the car's potentially greatest feature.....on the back window it has an authentic original beyond.ca sticker, the very first design from the very first batch of stickers ever made....that's gotta up the price by a few K right there :D :D

That's a REALLY nice ride, most DSM's you see these days are beat to shit, and molested beyond recognition. That is a GREAT example.

$7,000-$8,000

I think you'll find the right buyer if you hold on to it.

Now if you lack garage space and need a trusted co-worker to take care of it for you, give me a call. ;)

if you want to sell, I'd buy. maybe. I'd want to take a look at it first.

I miss my old Talon so much... yours looks really purple though. is it wildberry pearl metallic, or did you get the whole car repainted?

edit: looks like it WAS wildberry, but you repainted it. the car used to be almost identical to the one I had.. do you still have the original Talon spoiler, tails, and rear bumper? never liked the Eclipse ass

The key is to mod a highly sought after car in it's stock form.
