My 01, S10 blazer wont engage 4 wheel. It has the push button switch on the dash. When I push it it just clicks and goes back to 2 wheel. I tried putting tranny in neutral and then engaging but does same thing. 12" of snow and no 4 wheel. HELP !!!

Is there a safety switch that may not be working? Jus guessing here though.

From 2HI to 4HI OR 4LO? If your trying to get into 4LO you need to be in neutral or else it will just go back to 2HI. If 4HI just let it roll a bit and try. If not i dont know why go take it to the dealership:dunno:

never had that in my jimmy. Definately take it to the dealer to get serviced.

Sounds to me like the actuator in the dif is not working. Trying to remember if the S10 has the expandable donkey dink.

some of these "push button 4x4" systems will only engage 4Lo when either the tranny is in PARK and you foot is on the brakes, or in NEUTRAL and foot on the brakes. Either way put you foot on the brakes, and try either way. Not sure which system applies to the Jimmy, but if it is like the Suburban, Tahoe, and TrailBlazer, try putting it in park and foot on the brakes.

i think 12'' of snow is not much different in 4 wheels or 2 wheels, i have an ideas , if you still cannot use 4 wheels , try to use chains put on the wheels may help a little bit on snow driving. :)

actuator is vaccum controlled on these...check to see if the big vac hose came off the bottom of the actuator....then check the cable....if seen these rust and break

Yep, I had a 97 jimmy, the vacuum hose came off my unit when I had the same problem. Plug the hose back in, unplug the battery for an hour, back in buisness.
