Vader, why don't you take it to Race City tonight and then come back here and post your 11-second time slips?

Don't let getting beat by a 4 door sedan with a bike hanging off the back end get you down...(even though he lifted).

It happens. There's enough street heroes on here...take it to the track.

As per the other post he didn't beat me:)

>>You were reeling him in? sounds like a losers excuse

However I was impressed that he kept up as well as he did. He must be pushing atleast 390 - 400 WHP Just wondering what his modications were.

>>What are you basing that off of? What did your car make (not "what do you think it makes")

I'll try to make it to the track one of these nights, I have no Idea whats required ETC ETC so I'll have to make a phone call down to them and do some research.

>>>Come tonight, bring the car > thats it... no research necessary... If the car is road safe, it will pass tech... If you built an unsafe POS, they will let you know what you need to change for next time

You guys can flame me all you want for ** Driving to the speed limit spiritedly with another driver ** But we all know we have done it time and time again...

Sorry to break it to you but you probably don't have 400whp unless you are running meth, or have upgraded turbos, AND you are at sea level.

THe 400+ whp is hard to believe without say upgraded turbos. Lets say that would be what, 482 bhp w/ 17% driveline loss?

Helmet, $25, no lose crap in your trunk/car.

Helmet and a safe car. You need a fast, fast car to require a cage.

Edit: ya beat me black

gretz
06-24-2011, 03:40 PM
Don't need either... If you run faster than 98mph, bring a helmet or you can rent one for $5...

that's it... bring it down, $25 to race, $5 for the helmet > reel in all the cars you can

benyl

haha, just because you are running an extra 2PSI, doesn't mean you are making more power. You could be blowing more hot air than you think which causes your car to pull timing. You are probably out of the efficiency range of the turbos as they are small and aren't meant to run more than 12 PSI.

The JB4 doesn't have "direct" control over timing, it just alters the signal so you don't actually know what the ECU is doing.

Altitude does have an effect on Turbo cars, it just isn't as bad as NA cars.

Most MAP cars, like the 335i can make up the altitude difference by running more boost.

A stock 335 runs about 8 psi at sea level. At altitude, it will run as much as 12 PSI to make up the difference and that is why it still has 300hp here in Calgary.

Ask the guys in South Africa with 335s that live at 8000 ft why their cars don't make 300hp... the answer: altitude.

E90Vader

Thanks for the tips everyone.
Track sounds like fun! Now all I need to do is figure out how to properly brake boost. Also figure out if I'm quicker launching in 2nd gear or 1st gear.

Hahaha...looks like I hit a nerve, but thanks for proving my point.

"Boasting" by quoting a GM advertisement? Um, ok. On that note, have I mentioned that my windshield wipers can handle 190 mph raindrops? How's that?? Or, how about when I turn my car on, it returns the favour??

Seriously, I haven't boasted about my car at all...no more than you're boasting about your bike or your Acura in your profile.

I know what my car can and can't do, and I don't need to come on here and prove it. I also realize that there are plenty of faster cars on the road than mine...perhaps even Vader's... maybe even yours! Anyone can pick up a magazine and see how "stock for stock" cars compare with each other, but once you start modding, all bets are off. Maybe his car WILL run 11's, but he'll never know until he takes it to the track, which is the proper place to do it.

I'm not about to risk injuring or killing myself or someone else just to prove some stupid point on the street. Sure, when I was younger I did stupid things, but as I've matured, I've realized just how stupid they really were. Don't worry, you'll figure it out someday too.

Stay safe...

Except for the fact that those tiny turbos are maxxed out at sea level when it's chipped, so it'll never flow enough air at this altitude to get the advertised chipped power.

yup.... k03 on the VW/Audi motors may run 20psi, but they still dont have the flow of big turbo's

With the big turbo kits for the 1.8T's you can safely run 415cc injectors on a tune here, at sea level everyone runs 630cc injectors.

Altitude plays a huge role in turbo'd cars once you get beyond the stock turbo.
