Remote mounted deck and IPOD

Does anyone know of a deck that can be mounted remotely and operated solely by remote or ipod?

I built a '67 Impala and I had a stereo built out of the original radio for the car that had upgraded internals and accepted the use of an ipod. After a lot of money was spent, it works, but quite poorly.

The backup plan is to leave the original modified radio in the dash so it looks stock and install another stereo but I'm having trouble finding something that will work well when mounted in a remote location (under the seat or in the trunk).

What kind of iPod do you have. If it's an iPod touch you should have Bluetooth. Just get a deck with bluetooth audio streaming and your set. Hide the head unit away and you'll be wireless aswell.
