I got to drive a Gallardo!

So i just got home from Vegas, I was there for a full week and my girlfriend suprised me and took me to Las vegas Motor Speedway where she made a reservation for me to drive a Gallardo, Ive never been so excited in my life.
When I got there, there were 15 exotic cars parked, so I went got pictures, then I went for a 25 min "class" followed by 2 discovery laps in a Cayenne.

15 min after I went got my helmet and jumped in the Gallardo, felt like a dream haha I was so nervous, the instructor was really cool and kept telling me to go faster. Most people only get 5 laps but I got the upgrade so went for 7 and it still goes by too fast, crazy experience though.

There was also a professional Indy 500 driver there that was driving the GT3 he offered a 2 laps ride-along experience for 100 bucks, of course I went and paid for it. I was like being in a roller coaster, he knew the track pretty good so he was going crazy fast, plus he offered me and extra lap cuz it took him a while to pass some other cars that were on the track and were going slow, well not slow but not as fast as him haha.

anyways overall it was a great experience and I will do it again next year, the instructor said that they are planning on getting a Mclaren MP4 by the end of the year; Id fly to vegas just to drive the Mclaren. here are some pics...

omg fken awesome, 'once in a lifetime' experience is now just $200 - $300 away!

i think i would end up taking that combo pack of 2-3 cars of your choice, if you're going to have a 'once in a lifetime' experience, why not take it to as maximum as you can afford.

a friend of mine rented an Elise down there for 2 days but i'd much rather have 5 laps of a 'supercar' hands down.

Ya I think she paid 400 for the 7 laps and then I paid 100 for the ride-along.. Totally worthy, they were also selling a video of you driving the car, but it was kinda lame IMO since you can only see your face, so I didnt get it

Yah the video option wasn't that great. Get a DVD with a camera showing the track and PIP with your face basically. It also doesn't load up into my laptop or a computer which was unfortunate.

Overall it was a fun experience though, sure get to rip those things hard. Instructors are very nice and typically relaxed

I did this with work in April, I would definitely recommend!

I drove the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, and it was a blast. The laps go by so fast, but still worth it.

I highly doubt they would allow that. When I went that place was EXTREMELY busy, it was tough to even take pictures of certain cars. They ask you to be careful and stay out of the way as people are coming in and out of the garage very fast. Some of the more expensive cars you get a good chance to snap pics/sit in. They make money selling dvd's it would surprise me if they gave you the time/let you set up your own stuff.

I know if I go back to vegas and decide to drop some coin I'd do this again in a heartbeat. But instead of taking 2 cars out for 5 laps each. I would pick something nice and hit like 10-15 straight in it so you get the momentum going and don't waste time.

My uncle went and drove the 458 a few months back. After he was done he bought the souvenir DVD which was just a basic dash cam video of his 5 laps. I highly doubt they will let you mount your own cam when clearly they are selling them as a souvenir. Unfortunately i'm not sure how much he paid for it.

When I first got there it wasnt busy at all and had 30 min to spare and all the cars were parked so it was pretty sweet cuz I got walk around and snap all the pictures I wanted, However the group behind me were not as lucky, by that time it was CRAZY busy, so many people around and not all the cars were in the garage at once so I guess it was hard for them to get pics. good timming I guess.

And yes next time I would like to do one car and more laps cuz time goes by crazy fast.

I had 2 ready go but they said no due to liability issues.

(and probably profit issues too).

Look like it's a new Gallado and Superleggra since I was there in Jan.

I drove the 458 when I was they're a few months back. One of the most incredible things I've ever experienced. 7 laps go by wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too quickly though. I also opted to get the ride along in the Z06 with a professional drifter - the car goes through 4 sets of tires a day :eek:

I've been recommending this to anyone who has the slightest interest in car's. I will definitely going back sometime in the near future, it was sooo much fun.

Congrats on your experience. I did this in November while at SEMA. I suggest this to anyone for the experience. It is also in LA for those that may not have Vegas plans.

I'd be so paranoid I'd crash the thing. Unless there was full insurance and no real liability... in which case I'd give er.

To have a quick car on a track I'm sure must be a great experience.
