Currently looking for a daily driver for the next couple of months. I've set my budget at $10,000-12k max. Looking for something reliable, fun and drivable in the winter and under 200kms. Big into German and japanese cars so thats what i've been looking mostly into.

Any suggestions on cars i should be looking into? I'm looking at some impreza/wrx's, (2001-2007) and audi a4 (2002-2005) mostly for practical use of space, aesthetics and awd capability. Im also considering buying an rx8 or 4x4 truck. Will most likely only be keeping whatever i get for 6-10 months before i buy a new expensive toy, but would like to get something fun that i can still get my money back on in a few months.

Any imput on the cars im looking into or other suggestions?

What happened to your 335i?

Maxboost - WRX/Pathfinder. That is the combo I have right now.

You have a vast array of styles/classes of vehicle in your sights. I'd suggest that you first narrow down what exact kind of vehicle that you want then you can decide what exact vehicle you want. With so many options your just going to focus on the benefits of each style and you wont be able to narrow it down. Each style of vehicle has its own pros that make it better than the others in certain situations...decide what you want in a vehicle first. Then choose the vehicle.

you cant beat a civic man. maintenance is dirty cheap. reliable. relatively quite and comfortable. best of all you blend in, resulting in less ticketing. having driven that bimmer, you need a break from the cop stare down.

I would suggest Mazda 3. For that kind of cash you will have no problems location a GT model year 2007-2008, possibly 2009 if you have patient.

It has good resell value

Another thing is Jetta MK5. Both TDI and 2.0l Turbo are good.

Decent samples of 2008-2009 Mazda 3 GT's are $15-17k. I've been looking for 4 months now. If you find one with low KM and one that isn't a complete POS for $10-12k let me know and I'll buy it instantly :).

9/10 of them seem to be NOT GT's.

I am sorry, but my English is not as good as yours, so if you don't mind would you please translate what "POS" mean.

Sure, I will let you know when I see a GT that is reasonably priced in good condition.

Haha, sorry, it means "piece of shit" as in, not well taken care of.

I've been looking at Mazda 3's for four months now and I've yet to find a GT in good condition for anywhere near $10-12k in the 2008/2009 model year.

Well, I admit that 2009 is hard to find for 10-12k, however it is possible.

2008 I have seen a few for the last few months. 2007 is easy. I have seen quite a few. However, you need to check the market daily and be patient. Also if you find something that you like just go there with CASH and put the CASH on the hood. If you wait you will miss it.

Very important aspect of when buying a car is to be with CASH on place. Not checks or other shits.

As to the models. 2007-2009 is the same car with the difference that in 2009 the interior is piano black. The switch from titanium silver to piano black is July 2008 if I can remember correctly.

PS: I am sorry if I have gone out of topic a bit:)

I've set my mind on a subaru impreza or wrx. I love the look of them and want something that i can drive all year long without having to worry about it.

I have been looking at this car on kijiji:

If i can get him to come down a bit, i might be going to take a look at it. What do you guys think?

ThAts pretty pricey for a non turbo impreza, get a wrx. I have a impreza rs and it's as slow as a Honda civic but the awd is nice in the winter.

Yeah i wouldn't pay his asking price. Turbo would be so nice. I'm looking for a wrx but its tough to find under 200kms in my budget for the year that i want.

If i can get this guy down to around 10ish then i would be willing to go for it. It's just a temporary car anyway and i don't need a fast car.... yet.

Just looking at his mod list, I bet it's been bagged (can't say for sure, obviously, but I always assume that).

Who puts a cold air intake on a 160hp car unless they plan on trying to use the extra 2 HP it might give all the time? Thats just how I see it anyways, and I could be wrong. Maybe I think that way because all the cars I see redlining every shift are usually base-ish model cars modded to look like a higher end car, or have hundreds of dollars of mods that maybe add 5hp total, who knows haha.

It's also high KM in my opinion. I usually try to find cars driven 10-15k/year, they aren't that hard to find. Might have to take higher KM though if nothing you like is in your budget.

Looks like the guy is trying to get money back for his mods based on the price.

Yeah i thought that too. I wouldn't be buying it for over $10,000 and the guy doesn't seem to want to budge so im moving on. Still have my sights set on a wrx.

We'll see what happens. Stalking the market everyday ready to jump on something.
