My friend Ashley and I go smoke shisha 3 to 4 times a week, and every so often we get to talking about the legalities of smoking indoors.

I say no license is needed, she says you do.

I looked on online, aglc, etc and couldn't find any info.

How is it cigarettes, cigars aren't allowed but shisha is?

Put this in this section since it pertains to bars.

I remember reading that the Shisha places got an exemption or something when the newest law came out.

i believe shisha places get away in a loophole, saying it is herbal not tobacco.

Isn't tobacco? Only the herbal stuff isn't. The real stuff is actually much worse for you than cigs.

No problem. Just be glad I didnt unleash a LMGTFY on your ass.

To be fair I dont know HOW they got around it but they must have either done it on purpose or just have totally neglected it. If they ever legalize weed this will set a nice precedence to have some nice 'coffee shops'.

They don't get exceptions. Shisha is legal because some of these hookah bars claim to be using herbal shisha (no nicotine).

As an hookah owner, I know for a fact that some bars use nicotine ones. Many bars in Calgary use Al Fakher, or El Nakhla.

Thanks for the info. Was just an ongoing discussion while out smoking it, even asked a server at one and he had no idea. Which then made me even more curious.
