I received a tip yesterday that the IKEA at Deerfoot Meadows has the Detolf display cases in stock. This was confirmed by my friend that wanted one and went and bought one this morning. They are located in the IKEA in Aisle 1, Bin 82. This info is accurate as of opening (8:00 am) July 20, 2011

For those wondering, this is what a Detolf looks like:

They retail for ~$80

EDIT: Picture removed as, rightly pointed out in PM, it's already in the recent purchases thread

This is just a PSA for all the collectors out there that I know are clamoring to find these beasties :D

Also, afaik, these are NO LIGHT version, although the light attachment SHOULD be somewhere in IKEA as well... ask one of their staff, I'd say

Thats a pretty regular item at IKEA, friends of mine buy them for models all the time. Are they not usually in stock?

They've been out of stock at Deerfoot for about 4-5 months now. I know both Mar and myself have been clamoring to find them XD

out of curiosity but what are the advantages on putting figures inside than outside on a shelf?

just recently got into gundam/robot kits and was thinking on getting something like this once I get more.

do they block UV or something?

Decor, and it makes you look slightly more geeky, but a lot less childish.

lulz; I'm just as bad - I've been collecting forgotten realms/dragonlance/greyhawk/planescape/ravenloft/dark sun novels since they first started coming out in the early 80s ....

I don't think these shelves are dust proof at all.

They aren't dust proof. They protect against dust by fact of having only two thin slits (either side of the front door) for air to circulate through, instead of having things on an open shelf. Reduction in volume of air per minute carrying dust particles = reduction in overall dust deposited on collectibles. Net result is instead of dusting every week, can probably get away with dusting every month or two.

These are great, the advantage I have with mine is I can pack figures right to the front of the shelf without worry that they'll fall off because the door is there.
