Hello Beyonders
I was planning on trading my 1993 Skyline R33 that needs a new clutch, for a 1996 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8L. The only problem is that the Audi has 315,000 KM on it... but I heard that Audi's have a good rep for their engines and that with 300,000 km it is still a good car... so im asking u for advice! Is it worth it?

Thanks

You like to gamble? That's what you'll be doing, buying the Audi (of course the same can be said about the Skyrine)

I think I would rather have the 2.8 though over the 1.8T. I say give it a try.

Depends on if you can do the clutch for cheap or if it's going to cost alot. I'd rather drive the skyline, but if it was going to cost alot i'd take the audi.

About the only car I would even consider with 300,000+ km, assuming there was literally no other option, would be something like a Honda Civic (or similar). There is just less to go wrong.

My neighbor has a 2002ish civic with 350,000+ KM on it. Only thing he's done to it is brakes, tires, oil, & gas. Clutch is JUST barely starting to go.

either way, you lose. ;)

keep the skyrine, just replace broken parts with better ones and you will be fine.

I would definitely not get that Audi. Maybe there is nothing wrong, but if there is...it will cost you. If you can't afford to repair a clutch on a skyline I wouldn't touch a 300000km audi with a 10ft pole. You could spend more on a wiper blade motor on that audi than it would cost to do the clutch on your car.

Even mitsu3000gt says not to, and he loves Audi's

Just my 2 cents..

Old Audis do not have such a great engine. My neighbor had one of these with 270k km on it which on which the engine was seized. I do not know whether or not it was idiot maintained, but I would never ever consider an old car in my life.

As to the question with the North American cars. My dad's Ford Focus has 430 000km and I hope that it breaks because he bought a new car a while ago and he drives it probably 3-4 times in the year...

These cars can be very reliable over 300,000kms but only if it's been perfectly maintained.

Used VW/Audi is dangerous as is.... one with 300,000kms? RUN!!!
