Hey Guys!

I want to take my GF out to lunch DT next week. Can you recommend any places from personal experience?

It doesnt have to be romantic or anything, just good food/atmosphere.

It doesnt have to be a restaurant either. A small little food joint works too

Thanks!

Google "Calgary downtown lunch" yields almost 3 million results, good luck with that.

Narrow down where downtown and what kind of food you like. :banghead:

Sunterra? Marcello?

Sooo man great places!

What side of downtown are you going to be on, and what type of food were you thinking?

Chicago Chop House or Vintage? Can't go wrong with a giant piece of rare meat!

Yea. I know there are tonnes of places, just looking for some beyonder recommendations!

As far as location goes, Stephen Ave Works. But pretty much anywhere downtown I'm fine with.

No specific types of food. Not looking for a steak/meat heavy meal.

Like where do you guys go (most of the time) for DT lunch. Lol. GQ, Ill use McDicks as the backup. =)

River Cafe. Better food, better atmosphere and lower douchebag level than most "classy" downtown places.

I also really like Buchanans. They have good seafood in addition to the red meat.

If It's warm out, and you like the "see and be seen" kind of places, get yourself to West at 11:00 sharp and eat on the rooftop patio.

Never had anything but a spectacular experience at Char Cut. I'd go there.

If you just want lunch, they have a daily soup/sandwich special which includes fries and fresh cookies for $15.

Hit up local 522, same atmosphere and food as local 510 on 17th. Fairly cheap. Get a flatbread pizza or the chicken pot pie. probably 50$ bill with some drinks for the two of you

Spur is also good, but a bit overpriced. Have the burger or clubhouse, you will not be disspoint. Probably 55-60$ bill with some drinks

Belfry is a bit west on stephen ave, towards the husky tower. Good pub food, with a bit classier atmosphere than the unicorn. Closer to 50$

Stay away from west, it's expensive and not very good.

Mango shiva is a great indian place on stephen ave, also kinda pricey for indian buffet, but it's good food and really cool restaraunt.

It's ok. the good thing is that it isn' made from "hamburger" so you allowed to order, medium, or medium rare, or however you like it.

My favorite burger downtown is Spur, it's just a bit pricey, 17$ for a lunch burger is a little steep.

French Maid is one of my favourites. $11 for a steak sandwich and a beer, and good entertainment. :dunno:

Last time I was in there is was $7.25 per bottle of pilsner.

Happy Hour prices are ~$4 still I believe. I think Happy Hour is 12-1 and 4-6 or something?? They get you when you show up later, are already drunk, and start ordering whatever!! I've had many tabs in the hundreds there lol.
