what is the average salary for someone out of SAIT, from the mechanical engineering tech. They can become a mech tech or a drafter. Just want to know what is to be expect from your experience or just knowledge. In terms of annual salary. Thanks

doesn't apegga have a survey online that displays any/all info for this? or are drafters/techs excluded?

36k seems about what i hear from juniors these days.. Depending how well and fast you learn that can jump up fairly quickly though

Yes, drafters move up to designers, then project managers (if they want)

What kind of drafting do you want to do? What do you expect a drafting position to entail?

Depends what field when it comes to drafting/design.
Civil: 30-40k
Structural: 40-50k
Oil & Gas: 50-60k
Also depends greatly what kind of company you are at. Whether it be a manufacturing/fabrication facility, small engineering firm, or a EPC. Rarely would you see a junior at a end user or producer.
I believe a junior should start in a fab facility and learn from watching shit get built. Talk to the shop guys... etc.

its average starting. im saying 80k after 4 years isnt average, and i had to switch companies for that. otherwise it would be 70k @ 4 years.

Not too sure, i am debating to dgo into Mech Tech, or Drafting. Seems like everyone out of Sait went into drafting, and none are on the technical side ?

If you want technical then woudln't EIT/EET be a better choice? My brother got a job pretty damn fast doing those two diplomas.

EET might be the best one ever to get ever. ;)

Up north in Mcmurray I believe after living allowance adjustments it's 80-90k starting.
We pay our Mech tech. pretty big money. She's been around for a while though..

it sucks getting ~70% of what i actually earn :(
I agree with posts above that EET is one of the best - in the OG they are the LAST people to get fired on a job. Pretty awesome if you ask me.. inter elec design now.

Yeah I didn't go into drafting so it's all good for me. There are a lot of options for EETs when you get out of school.
