Well i'm dog sitting my sisters dog while she's away and the little thing is about 11 years old and terrified of thunder. She heard the thunder and took a bit of a squirt on my suede couch on monday.

I tried using the upholstery vac - nothing.

Tried using Nature's Miracle stuff from pet land (highest rated stuff I could find on the net) - nothing.

Half water - half white vinegar - nothing.

The smell persists and its stinking up my main level of my house. You guys have any suggestions on this vs throwing it out or getting it completely reupholstered?

Willing to try just about anything.

Cheers

Did you try all this and follow the directions?:

Otherwise... sis owes you a couch. Some dogs freak in thunderstorms, my parent's dog crawls in behind one of the toilets and gets jammed there.

Our cat pee'd all over our towels in the dirty hamper and didn't notice for a couple days. We washed them about 8 times with detergent and no luck. We then used orange pet power TKO and no more smell. Even worked on the couch when our other cat got freaked out and got that too...

Good luck!

LOL the question is, what is with people owning animals that piss all over there stuff (Not talking about OPs thunder dog)

The answer seems obvious. The dog has marked his territory by pissing on your couch. This is why it smells so bad to you. You must re-claim it by urinating on your couch to cover up his smell with yours.

You don't sound angry enough. That dog would be outside tied to a tree in the next thunderstorm if I was taking care of it.

Doesn't sounds like just a squirt to me.

Sounds like they unloaded their Gad dang bladder

 I love some of the responses in this thread (mainly Feruk's ;) )

The dog's pretty old and I know she is house trained and she gets terrified from the thunder so my girlfriend and I put her on the couch between us while we watched tv. I figured she'd be okay vs leaving her on the hardwood floor where she most definitely would have pissed since she wasn't getting attention (shes a shelter dog that was abandoned when she was 8~ years old and found on the native reserve with a litter of puppies inside her... and shes only a little Maltese so not sure how she survived the wild as long as she did).

jdmXSI, i assume petland / pet planet would have that?

Cheers guys :)

Don't coddle pets when they are scared. It is telling them it is ok to be scared and to act like that every time. Ignore them and act normally and they will learn there is nothing to be scared of.

I've raised 6 dogs , I know that. This one is a bit of an exception for her past.

Sorry man, my point was directed at the other posters.

I don't have any suggestions for you. We used a green machine with the pet shampoo when we were housetraining the pups.

I'm not 100% certain because we bought it in a "doggie pack" from our breeder. But it would be a good start and I might even think piecies or petsmart may have it.

Ever since that tickle fight between my wife and her best friend, (God bless them) the couch has always had a thick blanket on it...
