Looking for a good beginner facility in Calgary.

Stronghold, indoor climbing center just off 16th Ave NW. Been a few years since I've gone but they usually run a quick lesson on how to get into your harness, how/what to check to ensure straps are done up correctly, your rope is setup right in your belay device etc etc. Basically a beginner lesson and then you have at it.

The UofC was where I first took a lesson in climbing.

MRU is supposed to have a decent facility as well.

Also The Crux in the NE by the casino, it's tucked away but it's a great facility as well.

I will second U of C for lessons. Excellent instructors and they don't seem motivated by profit at all.

If you are just wanting to try it out, and not really go any further with it, any climbing gym will be just fine.

There's also the Chinook location. My favourite place to climb in the city is Stronghold; it has great staff, a bouldering area and decently diverse walls and routes.
