I found this site, explaining how to do it for most american providers, But I'm not sure if telus is able to do this as well?

http://www.hacksar.com/blog/2009/04/22/forward-gmail-to-your-cell-phone-as-texts/

I only have a 'half smart phone'.. So I was hoping to get emails fwd as texts, rather then having to go online to check.

This is their list of what to use as the fwd'ing address>

Verizon: [email protected]
AT&T: [email protected]
Sprint: [email protected]
T-Mobile: [email protected]
Nextel: [email protected]
Virgin Mobile: [email protected]
Alltel: [email protected]
Boost Mobile: [email protected]

So anyone know if telus allows it?

could you not set gmail to forward it to your Telus E-mail txt number?

This is from the telus site:

Sending text messages
In addition to sending a text message from your mobile phone to another mobile phone, the following options are also available:

From your e-mail - by addressing the message to [email protected] (e.g., [email protected])

seems pretty straight forward

Except I have a feeling you'll get a bazillion text messages since one message is limited to only a hundred characters or so, so one email message might end up as 50 fragments depending on how much was quoted. Your half smart phone might run out of memory very fast.
