actually It looks to follow the design styping of the Phaeton.

It also has the outline of the new Audi grill.

Looks legit to me. Not a bad looking car. I am sure they are going to take the price upscale on this one.

I think that VW forgets what it's name stands for.

I still find it hillarious that the Beetle was first envisioned by Hitler, and then it became the offical car of peace and love in the 60s :dunno:

Hitler designed it to be a Peoples Car that all can afford, it was economical and easy to repair. Afterwards he went on his shameful tirade...:(

Perhapse it was the only GOOD thing he did?

doenst look fake at all to me, ben right, follows the styling cues of the new Phaeton! still looks pretty nice but will take some getting used to....it looks pretty big for VW's small engine that the lower model passat's come with!

They are not spy photos, thats just what the dude named the thread. Its a Euro based website, Europeans get all the nice shit from VW before we ever see it.

Passats now come with the 1.8T or the VR6. Both should be enough to power these things to 60 in under 10 seconds... lol

heck, the 1.8T is used in the overweight Audi A4 and has somewhat decent performance.

ben, he also turned around Germany's economy. if the power didnt rot his brain, he woulda been a great leader and proved that facism CAN work... but usualy the one person does come obsessed with his own power

Actually, he did a lot of good things for Germany :)

But anyways, the VW was originally ordered by Hitler to be reliable, economical, and AFFORDABLE. The Passat (~40K) will probably do as poorly as it does now in sales, and will end up depreciating at a terrible rate (right now, 3-4 year old passats aren't much more expensive than 3-4yr old Jettas). They should drop the Passat from their line.

Drop it? They need to have some kind of midsize sedan. Jettas are too small.

You can get an A4 cheaper than some Passats...

There is a reason it is nickname the "passaudi".

And Ferdinand was commisioned by Hitler.

i still think this is a chop though...

considering that volkswagen would unveil their new cars at a carshow... not through some pictures on a russian website

That, uh, doesn't solve the midsize sedan problem, though.

Passats and A4s are really that similar? Does that mean all of VW has the quality of Audi?

I can't answer this question but what's with VW trying to move into the upper scale markets? I thought it was Audi territory?

Audi has a strong racing heritage. It would be more like a sports division, rather than a luxury car maker. Think RS6, S4, RS4, etc...

The Pheaton was built to compete with the S500, 7 series, etc...

In fact, I was watching Motoring (on TSN) and they compared the A8L with the XJR and the 5-series. I would have though the A6 was the competition there...

It doesn't really makes sense to me either.

The Toureg starts at $50,000 and goes to $80,000. If that isn't upscale, then I don't know what is. For $80,000 you could almost get into a Cayenne.
